No, he didn't. Dream Big was written by Emily Shackelton. It was one of the songs from the contest Idol had where fans could write a song that would be the first single for the new Idol. It lost out to Time Of My Life, but it's still an awesome song. I absolutely love it!

Dream Big was a non-winning entry in the songwriters contest to determine the coronation song.

The song was either written for Brooke or voted on by most of her fans because they thought it would be a good match. Cookie just put his awesome interpretation skills to work here.

David and Archie each had to pick on of the top 10 songs from the song writing contest. The idol vocal coach said David changed the arrangement significantly. I believe she said it was originally a sappy. twangy, country song. They were all shocked he picked it, but appreciated all the changes he made. I think she said he made it a much better song, which i am sure he did.

Actually, this is what happened. There was so much of a stink about what happened last year with "This Is My Now" and the fact that both the winner and runner up didn't get separate coronation songs. What the producers ultimately did was they took the 10 songs from the songwriting completion that got the most votes and both Archie and Cookie were able to each choose 1 song each from those 10 songs.

I love the way DC did Dream Big! He is so amazingly talented and creative the way he can change an arrangement of a song. He makes you only want to hear the song HIS way!
