So...here in David Cook Country, we all know how far we would go to see our man perform
<<to which, all the forum members reply in joyful unison....>>
"TO THE END OF THE EARTH AND BACK AGAIN!!!"
But what other American Idols have you seen in concert, and how far did you travel to see them - whether on tour with Idol, or solo?

Since I posted the question, only fair for me to answer too, so I’ll start it off:

I have to say I am very fortunate to live in a large metropolitan area that draws a lot of big concerts, so right here in Dallas I saw the American Idols tour for
Season 2 (Ruben & Clay)
Season 3 (Fantasia & Diana)
Season 4 (Carrie & Bo)
Season 5 (Taylor & Katherine) - But I saw the Season 5 show TWICE that year - because that was the year that Idol announced all the tour dates, and originally had NO dates in or near Texas - AT ALL. My best friend and I were so mad - so we waited, and waited and waited - thinking they would surely add more dates. Finally, we decided we would buy tickets for the show in CHICAGO, and fly up there for the weekend. TWO DAYS AFTER we bought our show tickets and plane tickets, (you guessed it) Idol announced they were adding 13 more dates...5 of them in TEXAS! So...we bought tickets for the Dallas show too (yeah -we're dorks). Anyway, we made a "girls’ weekend" of the trip and had a BLAST in Chicago - that is one awesome city!

Also here in Dallas I saw
the Kelly Clarkson & Clay Aiken tour together
a solo Clay Aiken concert (Measure of a Man tour)
a Taylor Hicks solo concert

Ironically, last year I drove 4+ hours to Tulsa, OK to see Clay as well...had I known about David and MWK singing in the local Tulsa clubs back then, I swear I would have stayed longer and actually made a point of checking out the local music scene instead of sitting around in the hotel room whining about "how boring this place is..."
Oh, if I had only known that DC, our own HOTNESS Himself, was probably strumming that guitar, belting out that sexy voice and rockin’ the house in some club a mile down the road ... <<kicking myself >> LOL

I've only been to the season 5 and 6 tours, and went to two shows each for those tours. For season 5 I went to both shows in the LA area. But the highlight of that season for me was getting to go to the finale show and meet all of them. I met all of the top 12 except for Kellie Pickler... which I wasn't bummed about. Lol. Since then I've met Chris Daughtry another 2 times, and am actually goin to see him in concert with Bon Jovi tonight! I'm so excited.

Season 6 was a blast for me. I flew from Los Angeles to Philedelphia, and then drove from Philly to Charlottesville Virginia with a friend to see the idol's show. After that show we drove from Cville to Hampton for Chris Rich's home town show. It was so much fun. We found where they were staying, met Chris at his hotel, and got VIP passes to meet the rest of the idols back stage. We were able to do that for both of the shows that we went to that year. SUCH A BLAST!

We plan on doin' it again this year, we just don't know which shows we're goin' to yet. But I'm goin for David, that's for sure!! haha.

Wow - you have put in some serious travel time for Idol. Cool!
And you've been to a live taping of the show? A FINALE, no less? AWESOME...my friends and I were just talking about that the other day, wondering how people get tickets to see the show live each week. They obviously hold a lot of the weekly tickets for the contestants' family & friends, celebrities, and former contestants / idols, but figured they must have some kind of "system" for selling out the rest of the seats.
btw - Have a blast at the concert tonight!

actually the live shows are free. You have to be put on a waiting list, or have some good connections. These days, you have to put your name on the list way in advance. puting your name on the list now wouldn't get you to the show until well into next season, most likely. I have a friend that works for Fox studios though, so he helps me out. I'm going to idol extra next week, following idol gives back. I'm so excited!

I saw Season 4 on tour (my first Idol concert since that was the first time I really watched the show and voted). I was only going to see Carrie and Anthony since I LOVED them on the show. And after that, I knew what to expect at these since I was on the floor for that concert and I hated it since everyone was taller than me.

Then I went and saw Season 5 and I was more prepared and brought a better camera and I LOVED it! I went really only for Daughtry since he was my main favorite that year. I got amazing pictures and video...and I wanted to meet them all so bad but I didn't... sad.gif

Last year I went to see Season 6 (only for Phil, Jordin and Blake) and that was my favorite concert of the other two I saw. I wanted to meet them also but no such luck....I never have luck with meeting people I want to meet.

All those concerts were held in Pittsburgh, PA so I didn't have to drive far since I live about 30 minutes away from Pittsburgh...the Idols always come to Pittsburgh so this year I'm hoping the same. And I'm hoping that I can meet the Idols this year, especially David........but with my luck, I probably won't sad.gif laugh.gif

And I've seen Carrie Underwood on tour this past year...and that's it for seeing any of the past Idols solo...

For the Season 5 show my daughter and I only had to travel about 2 hours south to Greensboro, NC. But I got the tickets late and we were in the rafters and the two 10-yr-olds to my right screamed the entire time -- except when Taylor Hicks came on. Then they were quiet, but when I started going "Whoo Hoo" when Taylor started singing "Hollywood Nights" they gave ME mean looks! As I posted in another thread, my highlight of that Season 5 show was Chris Daughtry and Elliot Yamin singing "Savin' Me." I went for Chris, Elliot and Taylor, while my daughter, who was 8 at the time, loved Ace!

For the Season 6 show we only had to drive an hour north to Charlottesville, VA and we had GREAT seats right next to the stage. My daughter got to shake everyone's hand and got a hug from Jordin and Sanjaya! She was happy. Her favorites were Blake and Chris R. I thought last year's Idols were okay, but none of them grabbed me like Chris Daughtry did and like David Cook and Michael Johns do this year.

I don't think I would go to the ends of the earth to see DC and the other Idols, but I'd be willing to go anywhere in VA or NC.

I've never seen any American Idol concerts.. I haven't really wanted to go before but this year I will try my best to make it out to a show just to see David!
Does anyone know if the idol shows ever come out to Vancouver, BC?
If not, than I guess I'll be driving out to Seattle or something haha.

As for seeing any American Idols on solo tours... I did see Kelly Clarkson when she came to Vancouver a couple years ago and she was amazing live. I was in front row too so it was so fun! If anyone gets the chance to see her live, definitely go! smile.gif

Where can I find the tour dates? or when will they be avaliable?

I'm willing to drive about 3 hours if I'm not staying over night.
Knew it Since Omaha
Tour dates usually begin to be issued mid-to-late April and ticket sales start pretty soon after the dates are published. Have no fear, Ryan Seacrest will announce it on the show as soon as they have the dates posted on the official American Idol site!

Ok, thanks! I am definitely going when they come to NY.

I live in Little Rock with my mom most of the time, but my dad lives in Dallas so I have twice the chance to see bands in concert. As far as AI goes I saw the season 6 tour in Little Rock.

I went to the Season 2 tour and also the Season 5 tour, I've also gone to see Taylor Hicks at the House of Blues. Those are my only idol concerts but I hope to see David in this tour then with his band after Idol
SpeezyBlaker_Grl
As far as Idols Live is concerned, I've only seen Season 6 and that's cause I LOVED Blake...(and now I love Speezy too...tongue.gif). I'm going to go to almost anyone I can this year....David is my favorite Idol EVER. smile.gif

I've never been! This season is the first season I'd ever consider going to, and only for Cookie <3
But um, I go to Warped Tour every year if that counts for something! Lol.

You totally should. I absolutely LOVE the Idol tours. But then again, I like a lot of the American Idols.

Here are my list of concerts (I don't remember the chronological order, so they're in kind of random order):
Season 4 tour in LA
Clay Aiken Joyful Noise 1 & 2 in San Diego (or SD)
Season 5 in SD and LA (Met all but Chris Daughtry)
Ace Young and Daughtry at Jingle Ball (a local concert - this time I met Chris)
Bo Bice at the local fair
Bo Bice at a radio station's concert. (in SD)
Constantine Maroulis's band in SD
Ace Young at SDSU
Various Idols at Summerfest (including: Chris Richardson, Ace Young, Kimberly Caldwell, Paris Bennett, Will Makar, Kevin Covais, Lisa Tucker, etc.)
Clay Aiken mini concert at Jimmy Kimmel in LA, if that counts
Season 6 concert in LA and SD (Met all but Lakisha)
Jon Peter Lewis at BB Kings in LA
Clay Aiken's last tour (I shamefully can't remember its name right now) in SD and LA
Elliott Yamin in SD twice. (Once he performed for a radio station mini-concert)

I also went to a dress rehearsal in season 5, another in season 6, and two this season (Cookie was so close to me at one point, I almost jumped on him. There's was no one there to stop me, either...) do those count??

I think those are all the shows I've attended. Wow, I'm suddenly aware that it's 19 shows - and those aren't the only concerts I've attended... the farthest I've gone, in case you couldn't tell, is 2-3 hours, depending on the traffic. this year I may be going to the Vegas show, which will be a bit farther for me. If I could afford it, I would have followed the last two tours, and the one this year, too. I just need to find a sponsor.

As far as seeing the AI Tour, I have only gone to one show in Portland for Season 4. I live in LA and was unable to go to the LA show as I was out of town. I got some really great seats for the Portland show, so my daughter and I went up there. The only bad thing was the person we had wanted to see, Bo Bice, had just left the tour due to emergency surgery. We still went and had a great time, though, seeing fans there that I knew. I have gone to see Bo many times when he toured with his band, SugarMoney, and have had a great time seeing different parts of the country and having fun with the fans. I still see him from time to time and am very happy that he is playing some shows in my area in July. I have met so many wonderful musicians connected with Bo and his band as well and still make the trip to Nashville every so often to enjoy their great music. It has been a hoot...that's for sure.

I am looking forward to seeing David in LA and San Diego. I'm sure it will be a great show. I can't imagine any less from him.

I went to the season 1 (DAYUM, long time ago!) and season 6.

I normally go to shows in my area.

S1 I was living in SJ, so I went there.

S6 I was living in Fresno, so I went there.

Solo tours on the other hand...I've traveled a couple times to see Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken.
I've seen Carrie...I just saw Daughtry...at shows where I currently live.

And when Blake Lewis ever goes on tour in California, I don't care where it is, I'M THERE!

This season is the first season, where I am literally traveling a bit up and down California. I am stoked!
