I bet this was mostly set up weeks ago -- and DC was a last minute add after AI finished and after the issue that featured him and they got such a reaction (from all of us and others!). Given that, 3rd is amazing -- and maybe better for him with the guys in the band, if you see what I mean. Not sure THIS is a title he's really trying for

lol i was actually gonna post a thread about david cook being in the issue, but i figured someone would have announced it by now! they showed his picture and little blurb as it appears in the mag! i've seen the pic before, but i'm happy cuz it's my fave of him!!!! so excited, def buying this issue, cuz it's got cookie and the the three "gossip" boys (chace crawford, penn badgely, and ed westwick)!!!! and mario lopez's pic is HOT! meyow! glad he's number 1, kinda gettin tired of matthew mcconaughey lol. hoepfully that got some other great men in this mag! think it comes out friday!!!!!:D

OK I take it back -- it's not EXACTLY the same picture -- there are subtle differences. I feel better now, I was going to flame People for not giving us something new (although I think I would have preferred something totally different.)

I agree! But. I think it's good that he doesn't look too far ahead into the future. That's how he made it on IDOL and it shows he's extremely grounded. That doesn't mean WE can't look into the future and know, without a doubt, that he will still be playing!! I thought it was funny when he said he hopes he's happy in five years, whether he's working at a gas station or playing music....LOL!!

Somebody asked about who Mario Lopez is.

Mario used to be on a show years ago when he was young called "Head of the Class" about a group of friends in High School.

He has done quite a bit of acting over the years and he was on Dancing with the Stars I think two seasons ago and was declared the winner. Now is on Broadway with Chorus Line.

David certainly should have been slotted in the #1 spot, but 1st time out 2nd or 3rd is fantastic. He will certainly be in the #1 spot next year.

I've been mulling this statement over all day now:

Correct me if I'm wrong but is this not the same man who so boldly and sweetly handed KC a flower and asked her out on live TV? Methinks the boy has plenty of guts, or perhaps more accurately he really is that hopeless romantic he says he is. And just when I thought I couldn't possibly desire him any more than I already do. I'm truly a goner for this man!

And IMHO, DC dressed in jeans and a cool jacket is 1000 times hotter than that Lopez guy is in his skivvies. Sexiness is about a lot more than skin, People magazine! Sense of humor, talent, humility, knowing the meaning of the word "plethora"...these are all VERY sexy qualities, right?

And there, I've just done People's editing job for them.

I think David is just realistic about the music business. He's been around a while and knows there are no guarantees.
Very seriously doubt that anyone on his management team is out there telling him that it's not going to last. I've noticed several times in interviews that he's actually had to remind people that he hasn't broken quite as many records as they've claimed he has. If anyone is being cautious here, it's David, not his backers.

NO Way THIS New Yorker and every other NewYorker I know only voted for Cook. Haven't met an Archie fan here. NY Mag is a bit strange. Their thing is to oppose whatever is popular. They always take the opposite point.

As for the Vulture Article, as a New Yorker accustomed to the press's self promotion and vast ego, I just read the article. I think it was meant very Tongue in Cheek. Sarcastic, maybe so sarcastic that their point was missed. Their whole objective is to instigate. To rattle your cage. and they did. They don't really care if David Cook is , sexy, smart and talented. They just want to write the opposite of whatever you want them to write.

I was so surprised to get my People magazine today because it normally comes on Friday, sometimes Saturday. It NEVER gets here on Thursday so thanks to People for speeding it up!

Gerard Butler is my very favorite Scotsman so it was nice to see him on the same page with David - not that I wanted David to have to share the page with anyone! More pictures of DC would have been nice! They've probably taken a jillion shots of him so quit being so stingy with them People!




I was a bit peeved when I first read the Vulture article, but it became apparent to me, too, that it was served up with a huge dollop of sarcasm! They want to get you riled up so ignore them.

Wow-- I missed the Access Hollywood videos at the time -- when I checked your link, I found a goldmine of others I've never seen, like the car interview (AI quiz showing how well DC knew his fellow competitors) and a performance of WIK that might be the best on tape so far -- he's clearly exhausted (this is the morning after) but because it's a studio and the pace is slowed down, it does better justice to him and the song. Check it out!

sux that it wasn't a new picture.. i wonder why that is seeing as in the video on people.com shows that he obvi did a full on photoshoot, so you know people pry had plenty of pics to choose from!

I thought that it wasn't a new picture at first either, but if you look carefully you can see it's just a variation of the same shoot, there are subtle differences (less tilt to the head, for example). But I agree, they seemed to have taken lots of different poses, wished they could have used one of those.



How do you think I feel -- all the way on my commute I have to look at posters for Mario Lopez in A Chorus Line.....

(Although I have to admit that poster is much more palatable than the People Mag spread!)

That video was taken the morning after the finale on the Access Hollywood studio. David looks good even with no sleep the night before - dreamy.




David has such a huge photo portfolio now after the last 3+ weeks with all the photo shoots, I am sure as we get closer to the CD coming out they will be using different photos. He is very photogenic.

The one with him on the couch I thought was a good chose for the Batchelor addition - you just want to melt with those eyes.

I was looking a GQ magazine the other day and all I could picture was David in that magazine. I hope he does that one of these days.


Not sure if many of you are old enough, but the layout that Mario Lopez did was taken from what Burt Reynolds did in the Cosmopolitan Magazine back in 1972. Most of the shots that Mario did where take offs from other "famous actors - Richard Gere, Brad Pitt, 1 or 2 others. I am sure that People had Mario chosen quite some time ago. So for David to come in 2nd or 3rd was great. Next year he will be #1.

So, I bought People magazine yesterday and here's what I have to say. Mario Lopez...YUUUCCCKKK!. David Cook....YUUUMMMM! Mario's photos are so in your face, blatantly trying to be sexy. David's photo just oozes natural sexiness. I think there were too many men and not enough women involved in making the decision about who should be number 1. Mario looks like what men think women want. David is what women actually want.

While on American Idol and over the last 3 weeks or so, it has been wonderful getting familiar with David as a person, a musician and for what he stands for regarding his cancer awareness projects.

I never really watched Idol in the past seasons, but happened to tune in the night he sang “Hello” and like so many others he pulled me in and I was hooked ever since.

I also want to thank you for including him in the 2008 Hottest Bachelors – not only is David pleasant to look at – he has a wonderful soul and is very true to himself.
