David Cook Kansas City Entertainment News
KANSAS CITY, MO. -- American Idol David Cook's name and image has helped raise more than $30,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Cancer is close to Cook's heart. His brother, Adam, suffers from brain cancer. Cook put an "AC" on his guitar during his time on American Idol in honor of his brother.
An eBay auction for David Cook autographed memorabilia ends Tuesday, June 17. A guitar on auction raised $500. The amount raised by the auctioned T-shirts was still in flux.

The Cancer Society also received approximately $30,000 from participants in the Blue Springs pep rally, parade, and concert during David's hometown visit on American Idol. The City of Blue Springs, Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce, and the Blue Springs School District encouraged people to donate $5 to the Society to attend the events.
A salon and spa in Independence, Bolero, also got into the action donating $100 to the Cancer Society.
The Society continues to receive money from a web site started by David Cook's fans. They call themselves the WordNerds. So far, the site has collected $1,495 for the Society.
Free Style Graphics continues to sell T-shirts with a portion of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Employees there said they still receive calls for shirts everyday.
WOW!! That's exciting to know that the auction I won was posted in the media in KC--I wonder if David has gotten wind of this yet? "There is a crazy cougar in Pittsburgh who won your guitar in an auction--do you want a restraining order yet, or shall we wait until she goes completely bonkers??" LOL

The T-shirts raised another $675, there were three of them ($225 each). So that's $1175 raised for the American Cancer Society High Plains Divison just from this one little auction!
I think DC fans have alot to be proud of in supporting this very important cause which is near to his heart.

I'm wondering if they are keeping tally of the money fans like me have donated after downloading his music? After reading the suggestion in that post about donating the approximated cost to ACS, I wonder how much they collected...

I made my donation in the name of David Cook and they sent me a letter of Thank You along with a letter to send David.
Now that we know his management company, I can send the letter on to him.

PS... I just realized I've been "COOK'IFIED" with this post! LMAO...
I was cook'ified LOOONG time ago David!

I think the real kudos need to go out to all of "you", the fans that have contributed.
Yes, David is raising awareness, but I have yet to hear him actually ask for the support. (unless I missed it somewhere)
You guys have done this all on your own, out of the goodness of your hearts, with David as your inspiration.
I haven't donated here, but I always donate to ACS at the local level here at home for my own reasons. (My mom is a breast cancer survivor, but I lost my mom-in-law in January and my neighbor just two weeks ago, both to lung cancer (non-smokers btw).
I hope David understands that the hearts of his fans are as big has his own.

And I'm so thankful to be able to say I'm apart of something as amazing as this, and I hope David catchs wind of it at some point!
