It's actually hard to believe that it's been 4 weeks since the finale...in a way, it seems like it was just yesterday, but in another way, it seems like it was a long time ago.
When I watch the performances again, it makes me miss it all--Ryan, the judges, the cheesy Ford commercials, the silly Q & A segments, the group numbers, and of course (BLake--this is for YOU, friend) CVM (Computer Voice Man)!!
I honestly don't think it will ever be the same for me again--I just don't think it COULD be...
What do you guys think??

I have the finale saved on my DVR, both the Tues and Wed shows, and watch them practically every day. I can't get enough of watching them announce his name as the winner.

When I go back on youtube searching through vids, I find it and watch it. That is a moment I loved to watch over and over again! It never gets old!

I'm right there with ya! I've watched American Idol in the past, but I was never so invested as this year. I also miss all of the call ins from fans, Ryan's silly jokes, Simon's wisecracks, Paula's spaceouts, Randy's "DAWGS" and most of all DAVID!!!! It's hard to believe that very soon new contestants will be trying out. Will there even be anyone we want to watch? I think this year may have been the peak for American Idol. I mean, how the heck can they top David Cook?!?!?

Aww, Dyann.
It seems like it's been FOREVER, for me, at least. I mean...it's only been 4 weeks, but seeing everything that he's done since the finale, it just makes it seem like a lifetime.
I, too, miss everything. I've never missed American Idol this much before. I guess I was just so invested this season in EVERY aspect of it that it seems strange not having it around anymore. I seriously have not watched television for more than an hour at a time since the finale. I miss the excitement and anticipation that we all had every Tuesday night, and I miss waiting to get the song spoilers, and the discussions we'd have before the shows. I still watch at least three performances every day, if not more. I can't help it, I have to see him in some form LOL
I'm never going to be able to watch Idol the same again. Next January, I don't think I'll even know HOW to choose someone to be behind because for me, no one will ever come close to being the contestant that David was. And it'll definitely be strange watching Idol without him there.

I work with the adult (usually geriatric) population, so I can see me in 50 years--"I remember, 50 years ago today, May 22, 2008--that hottie David Cook won American Idol!! Woo-whee, that boy had a booty on him that never ended!"
Of course, I'll have to put in my dentures so people can understand me, and I'll need a walker to get around, but dammit, I'll still be holding on to that guitar of mine!! Ahh man. I can't even get through a day without being here, watching videos, listening to him on my mp3. I look for interviews just so I can hear him speak to me again. I miss his talking voice as well as his singing voice! It seems really strange that it's been that long already!QUOTE

Wow! I can't believe it's been four weeks already! I said it on another thread, too, that David has set the bar so high. How can anyone compare to him?! Or it could bring out a kind of singer that maybe wouldn't have tried out before David did. But, who knows? I hadn't watched Idol since the first season, except a random show here or there, but never even a full show. This year I kind of got hooked watching Idol Rewind on the weekends, so I was interested enough to watch Idol when it came on at the beginning. I am soooo glad I got to see our David from the very beginning! I think I would have felt cheated if I hadn't!!! This was a special season, even Paula said so. It was a perfect season, with a perfect ending! I stood up and clapped and cried when Ryan said "David...Cook"!!! And when Andrew said "That's my brother!", how perfect was that???!!! What a great finale!

Has it really been that long? As David said right after winning the AI crown, "Good God!"
Time flies when you're drinking in the glory that is David. It'll be interesting to see how AI will be next year; hopefully, David's win will inspire people with more substance to try out, in the same way that Chris Daughtry paved the way (sort of) for David. I can imagine it; several years from now, you'll have the next big undiscovered talent be interviewed and say, "Yeah, I was inspired by David Cook."

*sniff, sniff* . . . CVM! Oh, how he has abandoned us! I feel lost, isolated, crushed, devastated . . . and I loved him so. I
always wanted to talk with him -- thousands of times each night! We spent so, so many nights together. He told me it was just us, but alas, he was with so many more. And here, he has dropped me/us -- COLD, just like *snap* THAT! (just like a man - sorry to any guys on here. CVM did wrong by y'all.)

Has it really been four weeks?! I can't even imagine getting into another season like I was this season. I mean,
David's pretty much one-of-a-kind. The artistry, the voice, the ability to completely transform a song (unbelievable ear), the instruments, the intelligence, the kindness, the eloquence, the presence, the stage performance, the heart.
Yup. That's the.end.4.me.
Edit: I was thinking today . . . .next season, they'll have David back, right? Maybe then, I'll be able to tune in like I did this season. *sigh* Miss him . . . . miss it all.

Oh, I'd love it if he made an annual commitment to IGB, like Carrie has seemingly done . . . . we'll have to find someone among us who can get into next season so that they can alert us when DC is going to be on. Then again, we usually have pretty good sources when it comes to his appearances. lol.

I remember in season 2 I had such a blast watching the show, and when it was all over and the confetti fell on Ruben I wasn't even that sad that my favorite had not won, but I was disappointed that the whole thing had to end.
This year, I felt the same way. I wasn't even going to watch, but some of those auditions were more entertaining than any scripted TV that had gone off the air months before. It started off slow for me, but I just fell in love with the kids this year. When scripted TV came back, it just couldn't compare. Nothing could compare to the awesomeness of David Cook and waiting to see what he would come up with next. I hated the performance finale, but the real finale was some of the most heartwarming TV I'd ever seen. Watching Cookie come from behind, seeing his transformation, watching him take on the odds and wrestle down each one, and seeing him be crowned by such a large margin and share it with everyone else who had been there . . . they will never top it. Ever. David Cook and his journey at this point is way more compelling than any fictional character.
I know it's a long shot, but I'd love all these kids to get record deals and do great. It would be wonderful if the Class of 2008 took over the world and we could have Cook, Archie, Michael Johns, Castro, and Brooke all over out radio dial next year.

Dyann, it's funny that you posted this thread, because I was thinking about the very same topic when I was leaving work this afternoon. Even though I slept like s*** on several occasions prior to the finale, especially the night of the final performances, and DURING the finale I was absolutely beside myself, I really miss the show. I miss the anticipation of what David's going to sing...and the way that he made me feel whenever I saw him come on stage!

And American Idol will
N-E-V-E-R be the same again, period. Not after the way we've given our hearts over to David.

Seriously, how can I ever forget what happened 4 weeks ago??
Days prior to the finals, I was chatting excitedly with my friends about rocking the votes for David, via IM. Even so, I could feel the excitement vibe. On that very day, we voted like there's no tomorrow. After the whole process was over 4 hours later, all we could do was hope and pray.
Sadly, I ain't too sure if next season's Idol hopefuls will ever be able to measure up to David, but we can take heart knowing that he will be back next season for guest performances - they always do that season after season.

I'm a newer AI viewer. I voted a few times in 2007 but can't count how many times I voted for DC this year. Watching him win the finale was amazing. It was an absolute emotional overload for me that night and I've been going nuts since then. I think my husband thinks I'm going through a mid-life crisis. Maybe he's right. Anyway, I can't imagine AI ever topping this season with David. If so, I think I'll have to check myself into an institution. He He!

My heart pounded throughout the whole show! ...Then the commercial came on....AAAAAAAH!...HOT! I didn't want to blink in fear of missing something, my eyes were sooo clued to that t.v.!

Then...the moment had arrived..."And the winner of American Idol 2008 is....David....COOK!!!" I screamed while crying at the same time! What a well of emotion that night!

That whole day completely drained me, but I wouldn't have missed it for ANYTHING!!

Soooo happy for David! I'm soo glad that we are fortunate enough to continue w/ him on his journey through his life experience via computer and websites like this! *muah* to David and all his fans!!

let's keep supporting his dream!
