First of all, I wanted to sincerely thank everyone who has bought a David Cook Rocks bracelet so far. We officially hit the $10,000 mark yesterday. Isn't that insanely awesome? Word Nerds are so very generous!

Secondly, I've been talking with a few people, and we've been floating the idea of selling the bracelets at some of the American Idol concerts this summer, via "street teams". Basically, I would ship a certain number of bracelets to someone, and they and a few other volunteers would walk around selling bracelets either in the line, or at a makeshift "booth", depending on the venue. Then you'd ship back to me any bracelets you didn't sell at the venue. It wouldn't cost you anything, but you wouldn't be paid anything either. You'd just be spreading the WordNerd love and doing a good deed that benefits the Cook family and the ABTA.

I wanted to gauge interest, see if this might even be possible. Please respond here with any insight you have, and certainly let me know if you're interested in helping out with this at any of the venues. If there is enough interest, we will be setting up a formal website with much more detailed information, and we can get the ball rolling. If you'd like to contact me privately, go ahead and e-mail me at davidcookbracelets@gmail.com . I know there are other people doing similar things, or setting up booths, so I'd love to combine forces, if you're interested.

Thanks so much everyone! And for those still waiting on their bracelets to arrive, you will be getting them within the next week or two!

Nerdy love,
~Jamie

I think it sounds like a fantastic idea, but think you would also need to have flyers to go with the bracelets to detail where the money is going. I wouldn't want people to think you/we are just selling bracelets to make money (though many wouild probably still buy them).

Does that make any sense?

Have you considered getting together with BLake and sesot with the ACS tables at each venue? Check out their posts on the need ACS volunteers thread?

Hi Jamie,
I just found this thread, although I see it's been around for a couple weeks. I think it's a great idea to combine forces with the other fund raising activities being held at the AI concerts. I'll be volunteering at the Aug 6th Albany, NY concert. How much are the bracelets? And, how much from every sale goes to ACS? Do you know how to gauge how many bracelets might be needed at each venue? Of course we'll need to make sure that selling the bracelets is okay with ACS, Venue, etc. But, let me know if you have any further information. Thanks for coordinating this!
For the Love of Cook,

Yeah Jamie, I already have one of the "David Cook Rocks" bracelets. but if you can get everything set up with ACS, the venue and others I would be happy to sell them in KC. Let me know.
