Ok so I joined this group on Facebook called "When David Cook Sings it makes you want to take your clothes off"...or something like that. It's just a fun group. There's actually another bigger DC fans group.
Yesterday I went in to the take your clothes off group to post something on the Wall there, and lo and behold I saw a message on the Wall from "David Cook", with THE DC photo as his personal photo, saying "Hey Guys, thank you for all your support."
This looks really suspicous to me. First of all I highly, highly doubted that THE David Cook would communicate with fans this way. Secondly, I'm pissed off at someone for being an imposter like this. Thirdly, I worry that some unwitting children or teenager (heck maybe even adults) might be lured into bad situations by starting some sort of online communication with this imposter. Ok so I don't know for 100% sure that it's an imposter, but that's what I believe right now. I can't imagine that if David really wants to write a message on Facebook, he would not post one on the bigger, ordinary fans group, and besides the Wall on the clothes off group has several not very flattering messages about Kimberly Caldwell right now.
Anyway, I don't know what to make of this. To make things even more bizzare, when I did a friends search to see this person's profile, I was stuck in "loading" mode for a long time and have not been able to get back into Facebook ever since. Not sure if it's my ISP connection or what.
Strange.

I hate how people have no lives and will pretend to be someone that they're not.
If its not on davids official website, or somehow linked to his official myspace or it doesn't comes out of his mouth (saying that its his facebook..etc) don't believe that it's him. even if it's on AIM, msn, facebook..etc
It's amazing what people will do now-a-days to get some attention.
They lead people to believe something thats a hoax and get their hopes up.
That's wrong.
Even if david did communicate some way with the fans through myspace, or even if he did have a facebook, it would be through an official account not something like that.
Thanks for posting this!!

OMG!!.. that makes me mad.. somebody doesn't have anything better to do than to pose as our David... and sadly, some people on facebook might actually go for it... but i highly doubt that he posted that... b/c why wouldn't he go to the bigger one... it's called like "david cook fans" or something.. i'm in both groups... but there is no way that he posted that. ugh... i hate people with no lives!! and try to be someone and something that they are not!!!

David does have a facebook account, but that comment on that fb fansite is not from his personal facebook account. You can see Davids real one on Andrews friends list.

when you're famous
there are so many people who wants to be you
but they can't so they settle for that way
it's normal, don't worry about it

It is pathetic that anyone would even bother to impersonate DC. (or any other celeb for that matter!)

I think people are stupid and shouldn't do such moronic things, but I think when we talk about it, it gives them the satisfaction of knowing they pissed us off because they're doing it for personal entertainment and know that people are going to be upset.
I think it's best to try to ignore people who do these things because if we don't, they're winning in the end.
And I don't want to give somebody what they want when it's something like this.
I know I probably sound like a hypocrite, but I just mean with situations like this in general.
I, too, have seen David's REAL account and doubt that he would do that.
Things like this are why I barely check my myspace and don't have a facebook.
Too much drama.

I honestly don't understand what satisfaction a person could get from it. And quite frankly i'm embarassed for them.

I never doubted that he had a real facebook. I'm just saying it's amazing what people will do.

Yeah I hate it when people do that 2. They can't just be who they are so they try to be someone else! *let alone david cook of all people!* That really gets under my skin.

couldn't agree more...i'm sorry but anybody who gets satisfaction from pretending to be someone else should be ashamed for themselves

They should be ashamed, but sadly they aren't. The fact that they know it's wrong is what entertains them. It's clearly because of how they were raised, I think.

So I found a David Cook Facebook page tonight (which added me after a couple of hours) and I'm sure it's legit. I got it off of Andy Skib's page (he added me immediately-what a guy!), and it shows a picture of David (I think it's David) from behind, in silhouette standing on a railing overlooking a drive or street below, as the sun sets. Both his and Andy's pages indicate that I am a "shared" friend theirs (I'm fairly new to Facebook so they're the only shared friends listed on our pages at this point). Anyone who's familiar with David's real Facebook page think that's not it? All the info seems too detailed (esp with all the Central Missouri friends) not to be legit. If it is his actual page, I'm sure someone is managing it while he's on the road. I don't even think he updates his myspace page more than once a week.

From the sounds of it, a lot of them are managing their own pages while on the road!
It's cool!
Archie and Jason post updates a lot from what I've seen.
And Carly's mom is taking care of hers!
