Ok all you Southern California residents (and visitors!)... 104.1 "My FM" (KBIG 104) started playing DC this past week and now he's fully rotated onto their playlist. So if you haven't heard TOML on the air out here yet or wonder where it's playing, it's on 104.1, repeated every 3rd or 4th hour. Hoping (and expecting) singles from his upcoming album to be on rock-oriented 98.7 (star 98) and hard rock station KROQ. TOML might be a little too soft for those stations right now (although I hear similar tempo songs on 98.7 all the time).

The yes.com site that monitors airplay, shows that station coming up quite a bit for TOML lately. smile.gif

It's a shame that TOML is the only thing they can play.
I'd rather hear Analog Heart or his Idol studio versions.
I guess that's why I haven't turned on the radio in a month, just listening to DC CDs that I've made instead.

I hope you'll post again when there's another song on the air.

You know, I keep listening to Indie 103.1 here in Southern California to see if they do play AH songs. This is an independent (how rare these days) FM station that serves the coastal area (Santa Monica to Orange County beaches and as far inland as Hollywood/Downtown LA). They play alternative rock and stuff that's either brand new, off beat or cuts that have gone "viral" on the internet. That's how the band Vampire Weekend was discovered (over the web) and then their songs "A-Punk" and "Mansard Roof" ended up on Indie 103.1. If they can get their hands on a CD of Analog Heart I think they could conceivibly play it, unless there's a licensing issue. Not sure if 19/RCA has ANY say at all over AH via DC's contract.

Yeah I couln't agree more, Analog Heart on radio WOULD ME GREAT, and Billie Jean, ABMB, the other studio versions, David has plenty of songs, and they just play TOML. rolleyes.gif

I think there are licensing issues. Freemantle is pretty much the same company as 19/RCA (it's all Simon Fuller) and there's no history of AI studio recordings or performances being released to radio... and radio stations (certainly Adult Contemporary Rock, Pop & Top 40) generally won't play music that the public can no longer purchase. It is a shame... I wish AI saw $$ signs in their eyes and decided to release a best of Cook AI studio versions album, at least on Itunes. Then radio stations might play and he'd continue to chart on Billboard with those other songs. But there must be some strategy involved in advance of the new CD due out in the fall-not flooding or oversaturating the market. For us in the forum there's never too much DC, but in the general marketplace, it could matter.
