I thought this deserved a mention, for those interested in the business aspect of things.

Apparently, as rumored, Simon Fuller is David's manager.

http://lifeandhealth.guardian.co.uk/celebr...rticle_continue

Here is the part that pertains to David.

Recently he took on the global representation of Claudia Schiffer, adding her to a management roster that also includes Annie Lennox and fashion designer Roland Mouret, as well as Idol graduates such as Kelly Clarkson and this year's winner, former bartender David Cook.

As a bromance, it's never going to top the Mavid train, but it's nice to see some confirmation.

For those who have no idea what this means, Fuller is pretty much head MVP at 19. The fact that he's personally managing David is actually fairly significant.

They were still looking for a producer for his album. Do you know if that person has been chosen yet?

I see. With Fuller's monetary might, DC's upcoming album will get all the financial backing and media promotion it truly deserves.

Nevermind. Ha. Yay for David!

all the best for DAVID COOK!

Talos4, I have no inside information. I don't know if that kind of thing is announced beforehand or not but since Cookie is being vague about collaborators methinks we probably won't know for a while.

I don't like Simon very much, he said Dc has no personality when he sing and this is s joke, Cook is incredible, but if he is a good manager, so let it be. rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

No that was Nigel Lythgoe who said that. Simon Fuller is the one who said David was super talented.

No no no, it wasn't Simon that said that, it was Nigel (AI's producer). Simon is Nigel's boss. Simon is everyone's boss! The boss has taken up David's career peronally. That's amazing news and it means that if for some crazy, remote reason this CD or Cook himself should fail, it won't be for a lack of support from his label. I am now convinced he'll get great promotion and will be allowed some artistic freedom. Lower managers are the ones who over-manage new stars, affraid to let them "be themselves." When the boss steps in, you can be sure he respects his protege and doesn't want anything to mess this up. This is really, really good news. DC has already confirmed in the most recent interviews that it's going to be a rock album, that he's doing a lot of the songwriting, and that it will definitely have his stamp on it. Remember, Simon Fuller is the one who said he was NOT surprised by David's huge win because, as the boss, he was privy to the AI voting result numbers every week and DC apparently slaughtered every other contestant during the last 5 or weeks of AI (from Andrew Lloyd Webber on). Simon clearly believes in David and his instincts. This is GREAT news!

Yeah Simon manages Carrie, Kelly and Daughtry. It's the best management deal David could get hands down. Cause Fuller's clients succeed.

Fuller manages pretty much all of the idols who are affiliated with 19 (the ones who have been signed to Sony/BMG recording contracts anyway). That isn't news to me at all. There is a difference between management and producer. I think that is what you are thinking of is along producer lines. We don't know yet who will be involved in producer aspect of this record until closer to time of release I think. Simon Fuller's name is on the back of both of Blake Lewis' and Daughtry's CD's and most of us know what has happened with Blake but Fuller does have a good track record. smile.gif

Actually, Nigel Lythgoe said that. Thankfully, he has no say whatsoever with this album. wink.gif

Has anyone heard anything yet about a producer being selected? DC predicted that would happen by the end of this month (got to be soon, esp if they're already getting ready to lay dowon some tracks. DC said at least 7 songs have been written). Producer is very very important. Brian Eno is like an extra band member for Coldplay and he is at least 50% responsible for their new album debuting at #1 and receiving mostly rave reviews. But management is equally important in terms of promotion. At least we now know that this CD will have great support from the label.

That is very good news. tongue.gif He will probably make David more popular.

Honestly, I haven't heard anything definite yet where that is concerned. I do agree with your previous post about the support he will get. So far regarding Magic Rainbow, that song has gotten tons of airplay and promotion even before it was officially released on it's impact date (June 3rd). Most of the time, these songs have already completely fizzled out at this point. I do believe the label support is there and in the end it will be up to the record buying public (inside and more importantly, outside the fandom) how well the CD sells. smile.gif Of course, the fact that David won helps too because the winner does get more promotion that the runner up anyway. smile.gif

I may be mixing up my AI producers, but I could have sworn Nigel actually said that. Nigel likely does not hate Cookie. He said he thought both Cookie and Archie could be big stars but that they had flaws to overcome.

There have been rumors that Fuller is "personally" managing Cook and has taken a higher-than-usual interest in him.
I'm not sure if what I posted above confirms that part of it or not. However, if this were a special situation, I would not be surprised, as Fuller has been especially supportive of him since he won.

Simon Fuller has been gushing about him since the week he won.

From Rolling Stone
QUOTE
"I wasn't surprised Cook won, but that's because I get to see all the results each week," says the show's creator, Simon Fuller, whose 19 Entertainment will guide Cook's post-Idol career. "I don't want to tempt fate, but I think David's name will enter the list of great talents discovered by Idol.

UK Times Online

QUOTE
“We're still a goliath,” Mr Fuller told The Times, referring to the status of the show — a spin-off from Britain's Pop Idol — as the most-watched show in the US. “We're still bigger than anything else, and now David Cook is going to sell millions of records for us.”

RCA press release

QUOTE
"David Cook is a remarkable talent and is a worthy winner of American Idol," says Simon Fuller, creator of the popular TV series and chief executive and founder of 19 Entertainment Label Group "he has an astonishing voice, and is capable of truly memorable performances as he showed throughout the season. He's mature, well grounded and knows what he wants. It's this quiet determination that sets him apart from other singers; I honestly believe that David has the potential to go on to become one of the most successful Idols of all time".

I don't know, I think he's a little excited laugh.gif
Agent Krycek
I do like that The Times quote, hopefully he is meaning millions of records on a global scale and he'll be getting David over here asap - Fuller will know he'll sell by the bucketload in the UK, TOML cracked the download top 40 with absolutely no promotion whatsoever (and probably no airplay).

Wow! Good news with this one!! Of course we know David will be a huge success!

As others have pointed out, Simon Fuller did NOT say that. Nigel Lythgoe did. Lythgoe works for Simon F and Lythgoe is the world class idiot.

Hooray for David! Sounds like Fuller is very excited about him and really believes in him! David was the most original contestant they ever had on Idol, and I think he has really raised the bar for the show!
