Full Version: Liner Notes from Analog Heart CD
David Cook > David Cook > All About David Cook
milligold
I posted this in another topic in response to a question from JerseyGirl2, but I thought you all would like the info.
I just got a copy of the original Analog Heart CD and it has the following liner notes:

David Cook - Vocals/Guitar/Piano
Josh Center - Drums
Neal Tiemann - Guitar (tracks 4,5,8)
DTMB - Bass (tracks 3,4,5,8,10)
Ben Hosterman - Bass (tracks 2,7)

Produced by David Cook
Engineered by Ben Hosterman (tracks 1,2,4-10) Andy Skib (tracks 4,5,8) and Paul Johnson (tracks 3,10)
Extra Vocals on "Silver" performed by Andy Skib

I didn't know David played the piano on the CD or that Andy is singing background vocals!

Thats cool - I didn't know David played the piano either, but just one more reason to love him! He's just amazing. smile.gif

Think we counted at least 4 instruments at one time: guitar, bass, piano and violin
lindzluffsacookie
I already knew that and I think it's sooo hot. tongue.gif

Wow! I didn't know that. It just gets better and better. Sigh....

Wait. HE PLAYS THE VIOLIN?!
He just got sexier

I knew about it before and was kind of hoping he would play the piano during one of his Idol performances. That would've caused millions of deaths across the globe I'm sure. cool.gif

Yeah, I think I remember him saying in an interview that he played violin as a kid when his mom wanted him to learn to play a musical instrument. Got into guitar not long afterwards.

wow.... i didn't know he played piano.... well that's really cool!! that would of been cool if he played piano on AI.. for a slower song... i would of liked to seen that! :]

Violin too??? Oh man oh man, I said it on the other thread and I'll say it again... that is one multi-talented Cookie!!!!

Yes I would have totally died if he played piano on the show... One of my most favorite moments at a Springsteen concert is when he sat down at the piano and floored us with a stunning rendition of Jersey Girl (LOL) ... can you imagine at a Cookie concert some years from now and he sits down at the piano and plays a really slow haunting Time of My Life???? Or maybe even The Truth???

thanks for starting this thread, Carole, enquiring minds want to know

I didn't know he played piano either. Does anyone have high-res scans of the AH liner notes?
BLake
Yup. Said he started with violin when he took up musical instruments in school. Picked violin, b/c a cute girl he had a crush on played violin. (Said he never did get a date with her. Lol.)

Switched to guitar a couple of years later when his dad gave him a guitar as a present. (The rest, as they say, is history. I mean, the man can PLAY a guitar.)

Knew about piano from AH. And I believe bass came up as a report out of KC/OK days, possibly in conjunction with MWK .....? There's a thread around here somewhere about it.
DavidsRockerPrincess
That is sooo sexy!!! I would love to see him play the piano!!!! I'm sure hes fantastic!!!!

I did see him play chopsticks on the piano in a video in the warm up for the early show. He joked that was one of two songs he can play. I think he was just being funny.

Adorable video, and wow 4 instruments that's quite a talented man but we knew he was that talented when he first stepped into the Idol audition room

That would be absolutely amazing. And I'd be dead. Speaking from beyond the grave.

I do have to say though, I love a man who can play the piano because I can't. there's something really sweet and sexy about just a musician and his piano. Its actually part of the reason I love Josh Groban so much and why some of my favorite songs of his live are the ones where he plays the piano.

Sorry, I just jumped COMPLETELY OT there.....
JuvenileCookie
Wow! He's very multitalented. He could sing. He could play the guitar, piano, and the violin. What more could we ask for this guy?

I would have been dead for sure. I always hoped that he would do FTEISYF on the piano. But he decided to spare my life....barely. Hopefully we will be treated with a piano performance in the future. I find it hard to believe that he would only know two songs on the piano. Come on DC.....we know better than that.

Just fyi, someone in the crowd yelled "Chopsticks", but that's not what he played. He played a little bit of the piano theme from Halloween.

I kind of believe him when he says that's one of only two songs he can play. I could be wrong, but I've not seen or heard anything that suggests he's an accomplished pianist.

He's still endlessly fascinating, though, isn't he? smile.gif

I do, too. Piano doesn't seem to be his focus and I think he would have performed with it by now if he felt comfortable with it.

And yet, he is credited with playing piano on AH, go listen to Silver again, that is definitely someone who can play piano. OK it's not concert pianist level, but if he only knows two songs, it's Chopsticks and Silver!!!!

I love how you know every little detail about our Cookie. I thought I was the only one that paid attention to these little tidbits.

Aw, thanks, Carpe Diem. I just find his artistry so fascinating. Musically, so unbelievable. Lyrically, have to say he takes my breath away (and I'm someone who makes their living by words!).

One of the best threads I've seen around here about these nitty-gritty deets is his guitar collection. Whoa. Thanks to all those experts who helped us all understand his many, many, many guitars (more than we thought he had!). I say good for him -- happiness and an investment in his future. Go David.

wow - piano!

I have the digital AH and really miss not having the liner notes. Thanks for taking the time to type them in....

BTW, does it say if DC wrote all the songs himself??

Thanks for that link. That's the first time I've seen that. I'll bet the "breath spray" that the caption says he's spraying in his mouth is actually throat spray. I know on the interview with the kids he said that he'd been feeling under the weather.

I'm curious about the writing too.
(Now I can't wait to play Silver again and see if I recognize Andy's voice.)

Sorry, I just saw this - I've been off the board for a couple of days. Yes, the liner notes say all songs were written by David Cook.
