He sounds absolutely incredible. Stunning.

OMG, this is probably the best vocals I have heard DC perform. He has an uncanny ability to take any song and make it totally his own, and better than the original. many thanks for sharing

I'll tell you - David's acoustic version is right up there with Mr. Bon Jovi. I think Jon would be very impressed to hear this arrangment.

I so agree, that was just an amazing performance. I have never heard that song sung like that and it was so much more powerful, the lyrics seemed way more touching. His voice had so much emotion, but performance-wise he seemed quite shy. Just makes me love his ability more.
How fantastic would it be to see David do an MTV Unplugged of his own stuff done acoustically? I think I'd finally burst with awe!

When I first watched that live performance of LOAP, my jaw literally dropped, I'm not usually one to want mp3's of live performances, aside from DC's AI songs, but this one I NEEDED to have on my cell so I can listen to it over and over again. Completely blown away, simple acoustic and that's all that's needed to showcase his vocals. I'm still in awe.
Anyway, right after watching that I googled how to rip audio from video. Btw, fringe benefit of this DC obsession, I'm learning a lot about video and audio recording and converting. I always thought I was pretty tech-savvy but there's so much more to learn out there. I'm even reading source codes of websites to find the video! Source codes and programming used to SCARE me senseless when I studied it back in school and now I'm voluntarily ploughing through it.

David Cook = Education. How great is that?

And yes I have it bad.
I posted my video and audio links in the multimedia thread for this, so if anyone wants another mp3, go here:
http://www.david-cook.org/Johnnson-Center-Video-t8462.html I can't wait to watch the other clips when I get home from work tonight. Thanks everyone for all the links and downloads and sharing. *hugs*

Bon Jovi has this version on their "Crossroads" album (probably elsewhere, but that's the one I have) -- it's called "Prayer '94" and it's so much more beautiful than the original, if that is to be believed. I've also heard JBJ and Richie Sambora sing it on MTV Unplugged.
I must say, David did this PERFECTLY!!! It was breathtaking! Thank you so much for the mp3. Now to find the rest of the show!

One of the many traits I admire about David is takes an original of someone elses and does magical things with it and makes it his own. When I hear some of the songs that the original artist does - (i.e. Hungary Like a Wolf, IWIK, Living on a Prayer, ect.) my mind goes right to David.
