Okay, we all know that David is smart. He's a word nerd with a HUGE vocabulary. Intelligent guys to me are sexy. In fact, the first time I took notice of him was when I heard him talking about being a word nerd. (That was before I saw how incredibly gorgeous he was.) Funny guys are sexy, too. (It seems that David has this trait as well). I was just wondering what y'alls take on it was.

I think intelligence can be very sexy, especially when it's balanced out with humility, which David has in buckets. The reason why I say this is because I've dated guys who were intelligent, knew they were, and wanted everyone to know they were. It was very off-putting.

It's difficult to find a guy who's intelligent and sexy without being arrogant, but I've come across two like that. I married one, and we're all fans of the other.

Yes, I remember that Alanis cd...Intellectual or Verbal Intercourse really turns me on...regular intercourse would not be bad either... . He is the complete package, stimulating in EVERY way...I love conversation, and a cheeky sense of humor.

If there's one thing in this world that is a total turn off it's someone who says "between you and I". A huge vocabulary is no substitute for proper grammar. Any loon an learn new words. There's no excuse for the lack of knowledge of the objective case. If he can't just KNOW what's right and what's wrong then he needs to take the other person out of the sentence and see if it sounds correct. It'll never fail him and someone, anyone needs to tell him that! I for one, am not impressed nor turned on by his "intelligence". His face is another story all together!

I know exactly what you're saying. I don't want guys to throw the fact that they're intelligent in my face. It's like those guys who are pretty and know that they are pretty. Ugh! Arrogance in general is a major turnoff. Thank goodness for David's humility!




So the man has his flaws. He is human. I hate bad grammar, but for some reason that doesn't irk me so bad. It's double negatives and when the noun and verb don't match. I could love a song but there's a line in there that goes something to the tune of "She don't.." It drives me nuts!!

God yes, David's intelligence is one of his most attractive qualities! Paula got it absolutely right when she said women like smart men. Smart is definitely sexy.

I agree with those who have pointed out what a turn-off it is when someone lords his (or her) intelligence over others - but thankfully, I don't think we have to worry about that with David.

Hmmm. I have not noticed him making that error, but you indicate here that you have. I don't like that grammatical error myself, but would not allow it to totally turn me off someone who in all other respects is top drawer. Were I to be young and gorgeous and capable of standing a chance with him, I could totally get into teaching him correct grammar by rewarding him in many varied and pleasant ways each time he gets it correct. THAT would be fun, and maybe I'd start asking him to throw some of those double negatives in, so we could "work" on correcting those, too.

David's intelligence is very sexy, but intelligence alone is not what gives him the edge.

It's his depth of soul and his heart that set him apart. And that he shows both and is not apologetic for either. I am amazed that he says things out loud sometimes.

I see him as using his intelligence in many more ways than the word nerd stuff. In developing a strategy for idol, figuring out the songs and arrangements, responding to questions with witty and sharp comments, with adjusting and adapting to the steep learning curve that is Idol as he took flight in front of us. I think he really tried to learn from what he saw around him and what was said to him to better himself on Idol. Very few people can be that objective about themselves.

I see him standing back and viewing all of this critically as well as living in the moment.

I really think that he is a leader, and he pushed to get Archie and himself both put out there as winners. As much as I think he was dead serious in his strategy for winning idol and the work he put into it; I am not entirely certain that he wanted to be a winner over Archie. I think he wanted them both to be winners. Just like I think he wants all the top 10 to be winners and have wonderful careers. Like he'd never crush a butterfly. He is just a beautiful soul. I think that winning is very satisfying, very justifying to him, though.

Don't underestimate the power of nerves and their potential to make anyone make these sorts of grammatical mistakes.

I think one of the main reasons why Cook's intellectual prowess (lol) is so appealing, is because he doesn't over-do it. He doesn't ever like, search for situations or sentences to use big words in, they just slip out sometimes. And when he does do it on purpose, he does it with a bit of sarcasm so it's not so.... Obnoxious? Lol. David uses his Word Nerdy-ness at appropriate times and it makes him that much more appealing lol.

I spend my free time looking up words in the dictionary. (word of the day for me, btw is peccadillo). I think that the whole loving words thing was the BIGGEST turn on. And then to add on that he has a spectacular sense of humor, and can make fun of him self... well, if only I was 8 years older. Or 1. Either way.

I've had both extremes. My ex boyfriend, Jayme, was just...stupid. I'd have to dumb myself down just to talk to him, and even then, he didn't get it. But he was funny. Then, my last boyfriend, Brandt was smart and he knew it. He was really ostentatious. Like, he flaunted it every chance he could get. And he had absolutely no sense of humor.

So yeah. I find that happy medium to be very sexy.
