BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- The 2008 'American Idol' winner, David Cook, has given more than pride to his hometown.
He has given it ice cream.
Custard's Last Stand, a chain of ice cream stands in the Kansas City area, has introduced its June flavor of the month: the David Cook-ie concrete.
Co- owner Susan Julo said her husband came up with the idea for a David Cook concrete.
“We’ve been avid 'American Idol' watchers since the beginning,” Julo said. “When he won, we were pretty excited, so that’s why we came up with the David Cook Concrete. [Cook] is from Blue Springs; we have a location in Blue Springs. We felt like we wanted to support the person from this area.”
Warrensburg Custard's Last Stand owner Karla Seigfreid said the concrete is “just to honor the idol.”
The concrete consists of Swiss chocolate custard, Reese’s cups, peanut butter syrup and Oreo cookies.
“The chocolate with peanut butter is what you taste,” Seigfreid said. “The Oreo gives it a little crunch.”
The ingredients of the custard were based around cookies, Julo said. “We tried to think of something with cookies in it,” she said. “We decided to have Oreos in it and we put some things together that sounded good.”

Custard's employee Jenny Lillard said she likes the idea of a concrete named after David Cook. “I think it’s really cool because I’m an 'American Idol' fan,” Lillard said.
“[Cook] would probably be like ‘That’s awesome.'"
Julo said when combining the three Custard's Last Stand stores totals, between 25 and 50 David Cook-ies are sold a day.
“A lot of people have seen it on our Web site, so they’ve driven to the location to get one,” Julo said. “I’m not sure they’re driving just for the ice cream. I think they like the whole concept. There are a lot of people in love with David Cook, so they’ll get anything associated with him.”
Although David Cook’s mother, Beth Foraker, has stopped by to sample the custard, Julo said Cook himself has not.
“We’re hoping David comes and gets one when he comes through on tour in August,” Julo said.
