D-C.org-ers, tell us whatcha got for the Sport Your Support Sign Challenge. G'head and call out other teams in your city/country (but keep it fun). Recruit team members or meet up with other teams to maximize points (hint, hint).

C'mon. Drop some hints ..... What's your fundraising goal? Who dares to take on the David-ism challenge? How many points do you think you'll get?

Get creative, DC fans and Have Fun!!

Ok, fellow fans--let's get out there an show our support for David and for the ACS!

I had already planned on having a banner made for DC to see when the buses pull into the Mellon Arena (there is a huge fence there that I am going to hang the banner on). Here's the orginal proof for the banner:

I'm going to add info about the ACS and D-C.org to the sign...

Anyhow, there's a bunch of folks that are meeting very early to wait for the buses, and here's my plan--For a donation to the ACS, people can sign the banner and write a message to David. Hopefully, I'll get a pic of him with the banner (with the creator of it next to him?? LOL!), and maybe even get him to sign it, too--he won't have to make a donation, though!! laugh.gif I'm still thinking of more ways to raise funds--it'll come to me in time. The great thing is--it does sound like he stops to sign autographs and take pics with EVERYONE who wants one, so I am hoping this will work out.

Another thought--people could get a pic of themselves with the DC autographed guitar that I (will) have by then, again for a donation to the ACS. For those of you that haven't seen it, here it is--

Since Rolling Rock used to be made here in Western PA, I think a lot of people (not just DC fans) will want to do this! smile.gif

Susan and Lisa, you know I am behind you 100% on this--I will be in touch with you guys re: specifics later on...

Let's go, cougars, cubgars, cubs, cookies, wordnerds--this is a GREAT opportunity to support a GREAT cause! smile.gif

Dyann, I LOVE the idea about pix with the famous guitar! Fantastic idea. Hmmmm . . . how do I get to Pittsburgh and my local appt on the same day? *goes off brainstorming creative solutions*

I WANT A PIX WIHT THE INFAMOUS GUITAR! sad.gif

Dyann, those are fabulous ideas! I like the way your mind works. Other teams should catch on to forming a bigger team (more points) by meeting up at the buses and joining forces. They might even have time to make a sign while they wait. That is probably best chance to get big points with David and other idols in photos with group/sign. Everyone could bring money they have collected for The American Cancer Society and group it together for one large donation!.

Keep the ideas coming!

We have heard through the grapevine that some Glendale fans have taken on the Word NErd and David-ism challenge, and that an international team is getting things moving too. Keep it up Cookie Fans!!!!!!

Hi there, annie702. David-Cook.org is sponsoring an international challenge to all David Cook fans.

Full details about the "Sport Your Support" Sign Challenge are available by clicking here.

We'd love to have you form a team (and/or get together with another team for max points) and win some cool honors. Check out the rules for your category for complete details on how to earn points!

This is all about showing David some love, having some fun along the way, and supporting a good cause.

I will still have it when he does his own tour, so that gives you an incentive to make sure you come here for the show (whenever that will be...)! smile.gif

P.S. I will try to get to my other postings tonight, but I have to take one of my cats to the vet...he's been vomiting at least once a day for a week now. He seems fine other than that (!), but I still want him to get checked out. So, if everything is ok (which I pray it will be), I'll have time to do that later on...

I have pictures!!!
With the sign, I have David (a few times!), Rami and Carly!
8 of the idols signed it! and most of them are in the back groud of my pictures as the sign is being autographed!
David LOVED the sign. They all did!
And I dropped it and Carly kept it safe for me!! I love Carly!
Do you want pictures on here?
Melodic_Mama_23
So lets see here! I think I have a really good idea to get all the fans at the arena involved and earn some extra points as well. I tossed this idea out to Lisa and she seemed to like it.......

I am going to be at the arena SUPER early (may even come in the night before) I was thinking about having craft stores donate supplies and have a table set up to make signs during the day!! There is also a fun event in the works to coincide with this. My theory is this:

Fans WONT have to leave the arena and can meet the busses for those extra points
Fans could earn extra points by visiting the table during the day (if thats ok with you bLake and sesot)
Fans who might not be able to make a sign at home can make one at the arena
Fans have something fun to do while waiting
This will attract people to us so they can find out what were doing
THIS IS FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

So what do you all think?? We dont have the "infamous guitar" but hey we still got somethin cool goin on and if this other event pans out then we will really have a fun time!!! (wish I could disclose details on that but I can't because I dont have them yet smile.gif )

COME ON TAMPA BAY!! LETS SHOW EM HOW ITS DONE!!!

Hi! I'm interested in the success of your campaign, and I wondered if we could have a strand that showed the fundraising progress pinned at the beginning of it? You know, kinda like the United Way thermometer, showing how much is raised as we progress through the tour? (maybe each notch another city?) Anyway, it's pretty hard to keep track of watching so many strands, and if this is already happening some place, I just haven't seen it. It's very exciting. Also, if you do post such a strand, be sure you put CANCER in the name -- Sport Your Support Challenge doesn't convey the cause unless you go read what it is about -- more views if you include American Cancer Society (not abbreviated) in the strand title. Thanks! Good luck!

Hey!

As for the sign challenge, I am totally thinking out of the box, and there is NO WAY David will be able to miss my sign. I'm taking on the Davidism as well as the Ultimate Word Nerd Challenge. I will be waiting at the venue at 10 am and having a big group of people take their pictures with it. I'm also on the prowl to get all the idols to sign it and get some pictures with them in the sign

My goal is 2,000 dollars. I set it very high, BUT I'll be happy with whatever money I can raise. Here is how I've been raising money

-I've been turning old home vhs tapes into DVD's for different members of my family. They were going to pay me anyway, so I've just been spreading the word that the money is going to American Cancer Society

-I will be hosting a family/friends charity BINGO night, where half the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society AND I'll be doing a raffle that night as well.

-I've also been able to sell some items online, and whatever money I get from that goes directly to American Cancer Society

-Lastly, I'm fundraising at the piano studio where I take lessons. I'm selling bottled water and candy bars for a dollar each.

Everything I've got has been in Cash so far, so what I'm going to do in a week or so is just put that online through the site.

Wow, these are all great ideas! Great thinking out of the box. I am looking forward to seeing your sign and photos. Good luck meeting the idols! be sure to tell them what the sign is for, more likely to get everyone other than David to sign. David found out about Lindz, and had the other idols come sign it.

FYI- You can start your own sub team under the Cook Fans Conquering Cancer, so all the money you raise can not only be added to our grand total, but you friends and family can also see the amazing effort you are putting forward. I would also encourage you to pull a LindZ and hold out on sharing all of your tour experience/pictures/videos for $5 donations to your page or even the main page.

If you don't want to start your own subteam, I would like to encourage you to read the pages set-up for some of our other teams, and consider donating the money you raise to one or more of them to help them with their efforts too. Just take a look and see if any of the stories move you to help them too.

Thank you again for your participation in this fun, yet meaningful challenge!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My team has already been set up. It's the RI subteam. I'm going to add the cash I have to the totals now.

Yes, I'm definitely going to make sure David knows this is for charity and about the contest, that way it will get the other idols interested.

What a great idea about selling your info and tour pics! My stop comes so late though, so we'll see.
