Has anyone noticed that this year it seems that most of the television interviews that DC is on they have also been including Archie? This hasn't happened in the past and I'm just wondering why they are doing it so much this year. Now I'm not being negative about Archie, however I do think that it takes away from David's win to always have Archie there. I don't think they should constantly interview them together. DC is the winner and I think that AI is treating it like they both won the competition when that isn't the case. No offense to Archie lovers, but he IS the runner up. When Carrie won, they didn't include Bo at every interview nor did they do it when Ruban won and clay was runner up. Yes they have a few initially but we are now over a month later. This is David's time to shine and for me it dims it a little every time they take time away from DC to interview Archie. Was just wondering if anyone else felt the same way?

That's not true - when they did the media tour in NY - I think that our David and Archie where together for was the Today Show only. Regis and Kelly, Ellen D - David was by himself. David was by himself on Leno (2xs) Kimmel (2xs).
They where together on the View.

Maybe it's just me, who knows. I remember them on the today show, trl, the view and I'm thinking a few others.

I agree with you annette... they appeared together only three times (MTV TRL was the other time). Archie didn't even do Walmart, which is a big deal because you can now count on the nation's biggest store (and music seller) to really push DC this fall and winter!

I absolutely love when they are together! I think it shows the side of David that we love the most, his gracious generosity. Part of the whole package that is David. He shines so brightly when in the company of other immensely talented individuals, which Archi is, without question.

I like both when he's with Archie, and when he's alone. and I think it's currently been a good balance. Mind you, if they were still promoting together in the fall (while releasing separate albums), I might have a little bit of a problem.

This is true and yet I think it mostly speaks of how amazing DC is. He is willing to share his moment in the spotlight with Archie, whom I'm sure DC finds as deserving. They both had an incredible journey and they did ride the tide together, so to speak. I think it's cool!

I don't think there's ever been a first and second place winner who like each other so much. Just think back on all the winners and runners up and then compare David and Archie. I think it's sweet he's sharing the limelight with him and I love to see the two of them together.

they've only been together in a couple of interviews. i guess this year they have had the top2 interviewed together because they have such great chemistry which is funny not to mention these guys are the best top 2 AI has had no offense to the other years top 2 and im not sayin it cuz i love Cookie but in reality this was the most intensely awsome top 2 we've seen thus far and i doubt anyone will top them.

i dont see any reason to be upset or whatever about the davids interviewing together. we all know dc won, the whole world does, so its not like having it done this way is diminishing dc's win whatsoever. im actually pleased to see them together, at least then we are not having to hear the same questions and the same answers in every interview.

Actually, I think I have seen DC alone more than other AI winners. I didn't keep up with Jordin so I don't remember her, or Carrie and Bo, however, Kelly and Guarini, Studdard and Clay, Mcphee and Taylor, were on together all the time. I remember saying, wow, who won anyway? This is when I think I got the impression that second was as good as first. Not anymore though, I guess since DC can handle the reporters from Cnn as well as JImmy Kimmel, and has come out twice with Leno, to me even though Archie is so well liked, DC has done the most press on his own. I guess now, they want them together to promote the AI tour so they brought ARchie back. The more diverse the fans the better.

I think that David does not mind sharing the spotlight with him. You have to remember that both Davids are very close and David feels like a big brother to him and cares about him as a friend. I really like seeing that special relationship they have towards one another. That is what made this season very special to me. Maybe that is why the media have them together so much because they also enjoy seeing good kinship and sportsmanship.

As I said in my initial post, it is nothing against Archie. I personally like the two of them together --remenisceince of Laurel and Hardy (they are too funny together). I guess I just never noticed the other idols being on so many shows together, I forgot they were together with Larry King as well. To me it just seemed like more than usual. I've watched AI from the beginning and I don't ever remember them promoting winner and runner up this late in the game. However they do really seem to like each other and knowing David he loves hanging with Archie, so I'm not surprised. Of course being a cougar for cook, I want all the time I can get to drool over cookie and when Archie is there (or anyone else for that matter) well lets be honest less time to drool. LOL Please people understand this was NOT meant as a negative post, I was just asking if anyone thought the same--please don't get angry..

You now what, Mckara, I sort of agree with you, and I like Archy very much too. Maybe what bugs you about it is what bugs me a little; when Archy is included there is less time for the Cook segment, and there is so much of interest we could be learning about DC. Having said that, most of the time they only ask about his love life anyway. But, when DC is on his own I'm sure we will get longer--hopefully more in depth--interviews about his music!

Look at it from the interviewer's point of view... if you had ONLY Archie to talk with, it wouldn't be much of an interview. The kid is a great singer, but he still seems quite uncomfortable talking to the media. When DA and DC are interviewed together, I see DC as being very gracious and not hogging the spotlight, but appropriately interjecting a comment if he feels that DA is getting tongue-tied (again).

Thanks. At least I know that there are people out there that agree. When DC is on I don't want to see anyone else with him. He is the one I'm tuning in for and I just feel it takes time away from DC when DA is on. Nothing again Archie. As much as I love MJ I don't even think I want to see him interviewed with DC. I want DC and nothing but the DC. LOL
On another subject, I think I have total lost my mind! How could I be a 42 yr old mother of 2 be griping about having to share a 25 yr old man with a 17 yr old on TV. OMG definately cookified!!!! HELP!!!

I really love seeing Cookie by himself and have been psyched to see him on so many shows - he handles himself so well. I usually just skip over the Archie parts.
In a twisted way, I think having them together occasionally is not altogether a bad thing because DC, while being gracious towards Archie, outshines DA in a lot of aspects from interviewing to the performances. He just proves again and again why he won the show by 12 million votes!

There have been many more interviews/appearances/performances with just Cook than with both of them...I also can't remember Archuleta having too many post-idol interviews alone (but haven't been looking, so please correct me if wrong).
Which is my point...EXPOSURE...i haven't sought out Archie interviews, but see him whenever he's on with Cook and am reminded that he's a good kid with a lot of talent. Think of how many Archie fans will be exposed to Cook while seeking Archie interviews...they'll see him interacting with people and may be more likely to remember him.
Remember that the ultimate point of these appearances is to sell records and concert tickets...not to brag about who the winner was. Both of them have been signed to sister labels and both deserve promotion. Having them appear together maximizes exposure...that's a good thing. They are not competing for the same fanbase anymore. People are perfectly capable of buying both albums (it's different than who gets the most Idol votes).

Yes, I think that the marketing people saw that they have a huge opportunity to market both the Davids. In past years, there was a front runner and the audiences were not so diverse. Here they have people who like one David and people who like the other David and because they have different kind of music, American Idol is going to win promoting both of them!!! By the time the tour is over, both the David's will have a CD out and the label won't have to start from ground zero promoting David A over again. He would have been out there since the finale. Great marketing strategy!!

They do seem to be together alot. DC does have more interviews alone but I agree with you. DC is the winner and should be treated as such but since DA is already signed they want to push him as well. Doesn't change how I feel. I only got into AI because of Cook. Never watched before and probably won't again. I liked a few other contestants. I will buy DC's album.

I think it showcases how gracious DC is about everything, and DA gets himself tongue-tied a lot of the time, so when they appear together, it actually helps DA out. DC will jump in and crack a joke or expand on what DA says, so I think it works to DA's benefit. I think it's sweet of DC to share the spotlight with DA. You can tell they genuinely like each other.

I usually am the queen of paranoia but this is not what is going on. The joint appearance on The View was the first time either of them have been on a joint appearance in ages. They did a lot of joint media during the first week or two but that is nothing unusual.
As other have mentioned, Cookie did Leno twice solo. He did Jimmy Kimmel, the NBA finals, the Wal Mart appearance, and Taste For A Cure by himself. Archie has accompanied him to none of his recent radio interviews.
Archie did not get a spread in People. Archie was not a Hottest Bachelor (thank God). Archie did not get a 2-page spread in Rolling Stone, nor did he answer viewer questions from Rolling Stone. Archie did not get an invite to the Glamour party. Archie was not the featured artist on MySpace. Archie was not on Nightline explaining his musical influences. (That one still floors me). Archie isn't even nominated for a Teen Choice Award. The recent Disney press does not mention Archie at all. I don't think Archie has gotten any legitimate print media, to be truthful.
They are not co-winners. If they were, Archie would have a single out. He does not. In fact, he is the first runner-up in years not to have his own single/EP released along with the winner. Archie's press release about his record deal came two weeks after Cookie's and was much less glowing. Check out their MySpaces if you don't believe me: Cookie's is filled with bold print about how well the single sold and how many downloads he got and has the president of 19 bragging about how big of a star he is going to be. Archie's mentions he had 3 songs in the top 100 in the third paragraph and some mild comments from Simon Fuller about how he's nice and talented too.
Cookie got tons and tons of press for breaking those Billboard records, too, to the point where he is having to correct people about what actually went down with those songs.
I think the only thing Archie has done that Cook hasn't is go to the Wall-E premiere and answer viewer questions on MySpace. The reason he did those things is because he has time to do them. Why does he have time to do them?
Because Cook is making three times the media appearances that he is.
Trust me, I am the first to go completely off of the rails with this stuff and I know a lot of us are insecure because of how everything worked out. But they would not be promoting TOML to the high heavens, nor would Simon Fuller be out there proclaiming that Cook is going to sell millions of records if he was at any point going to place Archie over Cook. I think it was telling that during The View Barbara Walters asked one question about resentment and then it was over and that Sherri Shepherd mentioned that David Cook was going to perform his HIT single. It drove me crazy the first couple of weeks because the media kept repeating that it was a shock win. I did have many of these concerns but over the next couple of weeks Cook just kept getting more and more press so I don't freak out about it quite as much.

I actually expected much more of Archie, the finalist always do the Today show together, and the entertainment news shows together, if I remember correctly, but I do admit that I would rather see Cookie alone. I guess I expected much more Archie since I guess he seemed so popular with ( I am sure he is) the young teens. Then again I am not keeping track of him. DC to me has gotten the most press of all the idols, but then I never kept up with any of the other ones.
