Full Version: Kimberly Locke Invokes The Wrath Of Dreadheads Everywhere
David Cook > The Other Stuff > American Idol (General)

I can't believe this wasn't posted yet.

http://mjsbigblog.com/idol-headlines-for-62608.htm

WCT: Of course, I have to ask about "American Idol." What I want to know, though, is if you caught this past season [ which David Cook won ] ?
KL: I thought this past season was very boring. I was very unimpressed with most of the contestants.
WCT: I'm still wondering how Jason Castro made it to the final four.
KL: He's cute; that's all. He looks good in a pair of jeans—you gotta give it to him. But he was as dumb as a box of rocks.
WCT: Yeah, and that's usually how I like 'em [ Locke laughs loudly: "I love that!" ] , but not on "AI."
KL: It'll be interesting to see what they do next year. I'd like to see them go back to the basics and stop giving them so much in the beginning. It's like they have nowhere to grow to. Make [ the contestants ] sing the track; when you have a 20-piece band behind you, anyone can sound good.
WCT: It might be interesting if they incorporated a little choreography.
KL: Hmmm. But those people—did you see them in the finale?
WCT: Yes. Poor Brooke White …
KL: They looked a mess.

Excuse me, K Lo, but I watched your season, and I don't remember any fantastic dance moves from you. And what right do you have to make judgments on Jason's IQ level?

I never want anything to do with this chick again. Okay, I really haven't cared about her in years, but given the status of her current career, I don't think she has any right to judge the current contestants. She has a strong voice, but standing still and emoting adult contemporary tunes in a karaoke-heavy setting is not evidence of musical skill to me. It takes a lot more courage, versatility, and creativity to adapt yourself to different genres and try out different arrangements like the contestants did this year. And the person who won is someone who was capable of bringing his A-game ot every genre that wasn't suited for him because he was bringing something new and innovative to the table. I'll take that any day over the ballads and belting that characterized K Lo's season. And even in that department I think Clay slaughters her. His pop career may not last much longer but he'll go into Vegas or Broadway where he belongs and likely have a long and successful career outside of the pop world. I can not say so much for her.

ETA: The title of the thread is supposed to be Kimberly Locke Invokes The Wrath of Dreadheads everywhere. If anyone can figure out how to change it, PM me.

I don't know what KL is doing right now, but I do know (don't ask how) that she performed on a John Tesh sponsored cruise a couple months ago. It was supposed to be some type of inspirational thing.

Simon doesn't like cruise ship performances. tongue.gif

Whoa! Is she digging a hole for herself or what?? Not good to be dissing on anyone like this, much less contestants on a show you were on!!

Kimberly Locke was a finalist on season 2 of AI. She came in third, behind Ruben and Clay. I'm not feeling generous enough to post a pic, but she was the first real full-figured black girl with a big voice. She has put out 2 AC albums since she left AI. The first one produced a minor radio hit: "8th World Wonder". She went on Celebrity Fit Club to promote her second one. She performed on AI this year, too.

And soon she will be getting a lot of hate mail.

you mean season 2? i watched 3 and don't remember her.

I saw some kind of update on Kimberly Locke a few months ago somewhere on one of those Idol cable shows and she was all about promoting her steakhouse somewhere in the NYC area.

And I would have to disagree with her -- I think this year's AI was the most exciting and interesting of them all.

It was during season 2. She finished 3rd behind Reuben and Clay. smile.gif

Sounds like sour grapes to me. I certainly haven't seen her career take off except for 8th World Wonder. And I disagree with how she feels regarding having a live band backing them. I don't feel that it helps them anymore than prerecorded music. In fact, I thought, after watching AI Rewind of Season 2, that they seemed to have had it easier somehow. I think the stakes and the expectations of the contestant have been raised quite a bit since then.

I feel she made a stupid move to speak in that manner. I think it will certainly not help her career one bit. I do remember her being rude to Simon when she was on the show. She does seem to have an attitude.

Seriously, I must disagree with Miss Locke that this season's the most boring season. Rather, it's the most exciting season. Ever. Season 3's the one that I give thumbs down to.

But on the overall, she was being tactless when she said all these. We know she has a certain attitude, but from that interview, she has gone kinda off-limits.

omg i hope you're not implying that michael and jason will be "so over" by next year as well!

anyway...

WHO THE HELL DOES THAT WOMAN THINK SHE IS AND HOW CAN I CONTACT HER?! THIS DREADHEAD IS AAANGGGRYYYY!!!!

and may i add that her little performance on Idol was boring as hell, and she didn't do Christian Siriano's dress any justice at all!!! Poor dress... it deserved better.
cookielust
*sigh*

it never ceases to amaze me the length some people will go to to promote themselves. clearly this girl just wants to be "talked about" again.

MJ is hugely talented and I think Jason will find a niche also

No, I'm thinking along the lines of all of those from prior seasons without an ounce of talent wink.gif
Lee_K
I'd but 10000 Jason albuns before I'd buy one of hers. She just wants people to talk about her.
She's an has been who never was a been to start with.
*TheLastRockette*
I admit I never watch AI fully until this season so I just went of YouTube'd KL...She claims this year was boring? Did she not see herself!?!
In my opinion season 2 had some pretty boring, pretty unattractive and very untalented finalists! Admittedly not all of them, but one or two of them, when you watch their performances sound worse than something my drunk auntie could pull off...And at least she'd have some performance style!
Miss Nickie
Wasn't Kimberly Locke on the same season as Kim Caldwell? Maybe Kim should introduce her to David and prove to her that this season was not in the slightest boring! biggrin.gif
davidisdevine
I think it is very low class to speak the way she did.

Also, I'd like to know what her IQ credentials are. Jason got into Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and only stopped going because of AI. Trust me, A&M is not an easy school to get into nor to attend. You have to be smart.

She just showed her true colors.
breann
Omgosh...wow. I can't believe she said that. Why did she think Jason Castro is dumb? I never got that impression. He just seems like a weirdo (in a good way) to me. Not dumb at all. And personally, I liked his voice.

As for season 7 being boring...I don't know. It seems like she didn't watch all of it, and perhaps only tuned in during random performances. Some of them weren't as exciting as others, but the season as a whole was not boring at all. I'll admit that I have only watched 2 seasons in their entirety, and a miscellaneous week here and there during some other seasons. I watched season 3 and this season (I still don't know what made me watch it this season, but I'm really glad I did. I usually only watch the auditions a bit). I think that right there proves it wasn't boring, lol. The finale was NOT a mess...sheesh. Maybe she was watching a different channel, and actually thought she was watching the finale. LOL! It was awesome... Maybe she was watching a basketball game or something, hah ("Why are they all running around like that?" LOL)

She never seemed like the type of person who would say things like that, but then again I never knew much about her. I heard that she was always really good friends with Clay, and he always seemed like the nicest guy. Is it possible she was having a (very) bad day, or perhaps someone exaggerated things after the fact?
Sarah
bleh. that is all.
James Padfoot (KN)
Meh, KL who? Thats what i think of this article.
Sarah
Yeah, at least no one from this season is DATING someone that is MARRIED!

Unlike her...

I can't believe she had the nerve to talk sh*t. She's nothing special...

Well, yes both Kims were in the same Season 2.

Time for Miss Caldwell to show Miss Locke the light. laugh.gif

Can we say jealous? Not everyone can be David Cook...she needs to stick to her restaurant and hang up the mic. Her new record is coming out and she's trying to get any kind of press she can get...unfortunatley for her...her new album will probably do way worse now than it would have on it's own because of her big fat mouth.

i liked kimberley when she was on idol season 2. she was, IMO, the most talented of all the girls who made the top 12 that season. i don't know what her problem is now.

Unfortunately, that wasn't saying much back then.

Season 2 was when the show really became a big deal and I loved the Cluben showdown. However, in retrospect it is not that entertaining. The top 3 were adult-contemporary singers who sang ballads and stayed rooted to the floor. Everyone else was actually pretty bad.
bittersweet04
That is way below the belt. I can't believe she had the nerve to say those things about Jason! UGH! What about showing some class Kimberly?
chair of wonder
I am so PUKED OFF!

Calling Jason DUMBER than a BOX OF ROCKS? Season 2 was one of my least favorite seasons, it's not even one of them, it is my least favorite. I don't remember any outstanding, standing ovation-y performances from her.

"They looked like a mess?!" Excuse me, when was the last time you've seen a mess? Stare into the mirror, there's a mess for you.

PUKED OFF! ):[ <-- Angry bull.

Been watching some of Idol Rewind on Sun nights and what Ive seen of her doesn't impress me. She should keep her yapper shut. She knows nothing of Jason or anyone else. What a b.....

Kim is just jealous that everyone compliments Jason on his great hair and no one cares about hers. lol im so mean
xMakeMeFeelItx
I think we need to remember the stark differences between AI2, and even AI3 and AI now. There was a backing track, and not much room for changing it up back then. Now, the technology etc. is in ample supply. Cluben was the making of Idol. That's just that. In my mind, to this day, the best finale of them all was the Cluben. That doesn't mean to say I didn't enjoy David-David... I'm a Word Nerd as much as I am a Claymate. Idol is very much a springboard. To quote a previous contestant:
"Idol is like high school; nobody is where they are today without education, but you don't keep going to your high school football games".

K-Lo lost all respect from me last year. She's been bitching about a lot of Idol contestants in order to create scandal. And she did just that, for a while. Unfortunately, she seems very different to me now. Clay definately slates her. However, looking at statistics and the like, Clay is third top selling Idol of all time and the most successful runner-up, beating the sales of K-Lo and Ruben put together that season HANDS DOWN. He's been on the AC Radio chart for almost 2 months, he was in Somalia and is now in Kenya with UNICEF. Not only does he have his music, but he's got his morals too. When his Aunt Joan died last year, he shut down his website for three days in memoriam of her. He's gonna be going strong for a long, long time - even if that's not primarily music. He is teaching on a bigger stage. And those of you who believe the controversial press about him -- Open.your.eyes.

I posted this response earlier to another thread re: this matter.

Ok, I am going to try and be as tactful as possible when it comes to Kimberly Locke. And I will support my opinion (b/c its not fact in the sense of I know for 100%, and I would never claim such). So, here it goes.

I happen to be friends -thru my ex-boyfriend- with Charlie Grigsby of season two. He's a sweet guy that I've had the pleasure of both talking to on the phone and working with. My club sponsered a concert at my community college with Charlie as the main performer. It rocked! (His album is really good, its a shame it never got picked up.) He was great to work with and I have the utmost respect for him.

Charlie's website (which is no longer in existence) made some claims against Kim Locke, that if true, lead me to believe she is a classless person all the way around. All I can say is I've met Charlie, my ex knew him for years before Idol, and I think he is an honest person. I don't know Kim Locke. I don't care to know her either. However, to be so rude about Jason just supports the classlessness even more.

Okay...I don't want to get in trouble for posting this. I was just trying to say that she isn't the best source when it comes to judging someone.

(And yes...don't think it didn't cross my mind that since Charlie was on season 2 with Kim Caldwell...could I meet DC???? Nah...I wouldn't impost on him like that.

I don't get what people think they are accomplishing by talking like that about someone! All she did was make herself look bad.
