So, here's a situation for you gals to imagine:
David grabs his acoustic guitar, looks into your eyes and sings "This Guy's In Love With You" very tenderly.
Did that get your juices flowing this morning? (I'm such a little devil today).

Hmm I'm not as young as some around here, but I had to Google that. I have never heard that song before and not really familiar with Burt either.
David would have to really "cook" that song up though. Oh who am I kidding. David could sing the alphabet and I'd be a goner!

True. So, Cookie Lovin and anyone else who's not that familiar with Burt... he was very very big in the 60s and early 70s with very hip "standards" of the day... he writes music, and he worked with lyricist Hal David (brilliant) and together they wrote more than a half dozen hit songs for Dionne Warwick. "Do You Know The Way to San Jose," "Wishing & Hoping," "I Say a Little Prayer for You," "I'll Never Fall in Love Again," and for BJ Thomas, "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head," the list goes on. Burt himself did a cover of "This Guy's in Love for You."
Elvis Costello teamed up with him in the 90s and co-wrote the score to the movie "Grace of my Heart" about a Carol King-type singer/songwriter. Elvis Costello has also done other projects with Burt. Burt is very hip for an old fashioned songwriter. I've always loved his music. I consider him the last of the great standards songwriters and he is one of my faves. Again, another example of how David's musical tastes and influences expand beyond his own generation. DC is a true artist who appreciates everything from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Burt Bacharach to Nickelback and Foo Fighters... from Broadway to Led Zeppelin.

Your curse, Scott? You are doomed, no matter how hard you try, no matter how good your intention, to misspell "acoustic". Check it out, dawg!
As for me, I thought BB was pretty hot when he was young. I have always loved his songs. I could play them on the piano and often did. I thought DC was the little tease in that article you mention. He had a bit of fun with those questions.

I am totally cursed on that word. That was actually a transposed letter typo... my stubby fingers do that all the time... i'm at work typing my copy on my right screen and this forum stuff on my left screen (no bad deadlines today, thankfully) but still, getting very sloppy! I'm a little OCD so I just corrected it!
It also crossed my mind that David might have been kidding around with that answer. If so, at least he knows who Burt is! Funny answer for celebrity crush!

I keep hoping to run into him. Now he's off to Arizona... he'll be back next week (yea! I'm going to the July 7th concert!). I keep hanging around (and walking past) Boot Star hoping he'll come buy for another pair! The store is literally around the corner from my condo!

I was trying to discern if David was being facetious or sincere when he answered Burt Bacharach. I remember Burt being a hit songwriter in the 60's and 70's. So I looked him up on Wikipedia. Check this out:
He is best known for his many pop hits from the early 1960s through the 1980s, with lyrics written by Hal David, many of which were produced for and recorded by Dionne Warwick. As of 2006, Bacharach had written a total of 70 Top 40 hits in the US, and 52 Top 40 hits in the UK.
Burt was born in Kansas City, Missouri. So while they are a couple of generations apart, I am guessing the David was sincere in his answer, recognizing the legacy that Burt has left.

Oh, I was unaware of the KC connection! OCDC, I think you're right, he was sincere. Plus, it would not be like him to take another artist's name and use it in a snarky comment. It's just not his style... well, maybe a deceased artist, but not a current one still working!

*thud* Yeah, that got the juices flowing! But then, it only takes one picture, sound or video of DC to do that to me! Lol! I used to hear that song so much when I was young. So many people did a version of that song. Plus, I had the music for it, so I played it on the guitar and sang it myself! Love Burt Bacharach, and I didn't realize he was from KC, MO.

Ok, for those who want to hear "This Guy's In Love With You," here's a youtube link for Herb Alpert's 1968 version:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=oqmhXmTsCPwIt's really a big piano song, but on guitar it would be great. Or, David could hit the keyboards! He says he plays a little but not well enough to do it in public. I bet he's being modest, as usual!

Agreed. That would not be DC's style at all. Having grown up in Missouri, something in the back of my mind told me there was a connection. I didn't remember that Burt was born in KC, but after looking him up on Wiki, I was reminded. Just look at all the hits that he wrote:
Wiki on BurtA lot of his hits were covered numerous times.

Oh my...I LOVE that song! I was lucky to have older parents who taught me to appreciate all the great music of "yesteryear" - Burt Bacharach, Connie Francis, The Carpenters, Simon & Garfunkel, etc. I had kind of fallen out of love with modern music in the last few years and began listening more to classics, but then DC came along and reminded me why I love modern rock so much!

Now, let me think. When I read the Burt Bachrach comment, i thought DC said it so that he wouldn't get in trouble anymore stating he had a crush on a girl--- you know mandy and KC. So I thought he was just tryig to stay out of trouble. Who knows, maybe he just did a writing session with Burt, so he had Burt on the brain.
Didn't Burt do a year of celebrity mentoring with Idols. That wasn't this year right?
I hate to say it, but I think he was being funny. Like I think he might have been being funny when he said he had a crush on Mandy.
He said on an interview recently, that EVERYTHING is taken and dissected, so he cannot joke anymore, unless he says, ha ha.
