While American Idol winner and STAR Artist David Cook is on the road with the American Idols Live tour, he'll also be writing and recording his debut CD, and he's just gotten a nice offer of a collaboration from another STAR Artist. Last night in New York City, Goo Goo Dolls frontman Johnny Rzeznik told us that he's really hoping to collaborate with David on some songs. So why does the guy who wrote "Iris" want to write songs with the winner of a TV reality show? Johnny said, "'Cause he's real, he plays the guitar, he's got a cool voice, he seems like a regular guy, so...why not?"

Wow, things are really starting to gel for DC. I just have felt it all heat up this week... after this long drawn out month of post AI appearances... now he's writing, recording, going to "event" parties and photo shoots, touring, and the big names are weighing in and coming calling. I also LOVE the Goo Goo Dolls (along with Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Death Cab for Cutie - all my faves right now).
I also love that Ed Rolland (lead singer and frontman for Collective Soul) called into a radio show a week after the AI finale and said, not only wasn't he upset DC covered TWIK, he was honored and thrilled by it, and that he and his band mates just walked in and turned on the TV and it was on, and that he was so happy to hear someone who can really sing do his song! Rolland said he became lead singer of CS by default, that vocals aren't the band's strong point, and that hearing David sing it right was great. Audio of that interview is on a thread in d-c.org somewhere (probably in multimedia).

wow! that would be great if that was to happen! I so hope it does!!!!

I'm a huge fan of the Goo Goo Dolls! Broadway, Iris, Name, and Slide are some of my all time favortie songs. I went to one of their concerts last March and it was incredible!

"Better Days" is my favorite song. I was listening to it the other night and actually imagining Cookie singing it!

I frigging love the Goo Goo Dolls...And I'm not suprised he said that! Seen the GooGoo Dolls twice and they seem like an awesome bunch!

OK, are you inside my head?! That is EXACTLY what I was going to post when I read this! Like literally, down to the "two loves of my life working together" bit! I mean, John Rzeznik and David Cook?!? **THUD** JOHN RZEZNIK & DAVID COOK?!? I just... I can't... this is... ARGH! I can't seem to form a coherent thought, this is all kinds of awesome! I *really* hope this happens and I love John for saying what he said about David.

By the way, for those of you who are not Goo Goo Dolls fans and may not know this, John Rzeznik just won the Hal David Starlight Songwriter Award at the Hall of Fame Awards.

That is really great news. The opportunities that are coming David's way are really awesome

John is an AMAZING composer/songwriter, so I am thrilled that he won that award--he deserves it!

And those blue eyes of his...MESMERIZING. I actually think I got lost in those eyes when I met them 2 years ago...they are all so SWEET, too...Love them!

I am glad that well renowned musicians are acknowledging David's artistry. I honestly believe that David has changed Idol immensely in that simply 'singing' covers on the show just won't be enough. I think the fact that David was able to show his creativity and artistry on Idol made veterans in the industry respect him and take him more seriously as an artist and not just merely a winner of a talent competition.

As for a possible John/David collaboration, I would die a happy fangirl if that happens!

This would be totally awesome if this were to ever come true. The Goo Goo Dolls are one of my favorite bands of all time and John Rzeznik is an amazing songwriter. If David Cook was able to work with him, it would be like ... magic.

It's funny; all during Idol, I wondered if David would sing a Goo Goo Dolls song. He has the right voice and the right demeanor. I was kinda disappointed when he didn't treat us to his rendition of Iris or one of the others. If John and David manage to get together for a writing session, I imagine it will be brilliant and very fruitful. I really, REALLY can't wait to hear what Cookie's got in store for us!!!!!!
