Full Version: Kansas City - 08/08/08 Auditions - ROAD TRIP?!

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to rent a car and drive to Kansas City on Thursday, August 7th and spend the night there and then audition the next day. (Assuming they don't do the wristband thing like they're doing in San Francisco... I don't think I could afford to spend that much time away from work and I'm not driving to KC TWICE!)

Is there anyone interested in carpooling with me and splitting the cost of the rental car/gas/hotel? We're meeting in Chicago and going from there, so we're looking for people in the Chicago area or on the way from Chicago to KC.

So far, Miss Nickie and I are in. We need two other people. I figure with four of us we could do it for less than $200 each?

Requirements:
  • Female
  • 18 or older
  • Have a valid driver's liscence
  • Able to stay away from drugs and alcohol for the duration of the trip (lol... I'm just sayin')
  • Able to split all costs equally)

About me: I'm 26, female, GREAT driver, nice, not crazy, good hygiene, and into indie rock music.

If you're interested, please respond her on PM me!

I found some really cheap airfare, so I might just end up flying. What exactly is there to DO in Kansas City? I plan to go on the 6th so I can get my wrist band, but that means 2 days of waiting around until auditions. Any ideas?

Hi Stacey! It sounds like this could be your kind of thing so, you're in luck. Right across the street from the Sprint Center, where the auditions will be held, is a brand-spankin' new development called the Power & Light District. Lots of bars and restaurants on the street level and clubs of all sorts on the upper level. There's even a cool new bowling alley! (I know, but you'll have to see it to believe it.) The area gets pretty hoppin' at night. It's a great time.

Coincidentally, I work in the building directly north of the P & L District, on the top floor. I'll have a bird's eye view of all the madness across the street at the arena. A friend and I are already planning to go lurk over there during our lunch break that day. wink.gif

ETA: Sorry, I spaced that you'd have to spend time here during the day too! Oops. So, during the day there are a couple of good museums...the Nelson-Atkins is our premiere art showcase, and the new Liberty Memorial WWI museum is great if you're a history buff. There's not much shopping downtown here but you can drive a short way to the Plaza, which is great shopping and eating. Hope this helps! Oh, and Good Luck at your audition!

Well, if the auditions were at the Sprint Center, you could hang out at the Power Light District which is literally right across the street. I went there a couple of weeks ago and there's tons to do!! It's new as well....but they changed the venue! It's now at Kemper Arena. (I'm auditioning as well smile.gif ) But since you'll be there on the 6th, there's quite a bit you could do!! You'd have time to go to the Power Light District of course but there's a place called The Plaza, which has tons of shopping centers and restaurants as well as a pretty water show. I LOVE the Plaza.

Kansas City has TONS of things to do, so you won't get bored. Like I said, I'm auditioning as well, and I'll be up there on the 6th to register and everything. I use to live there. If you want any more advice or what not, feel free to message me. Good luck dear!!
