Full Version: Ok, DC helped me to lose weight...
David Cook > David Cook > All About David Cook
StitchMeUp
Diet update - I have lost 23 pounds since March, and the last 14 or so are definitely Cookie related! Not only am I not hungry much anymore, but I also don't want to get up from the computer, especially at night, to get myself a snack! I'm too attached!

Anyway, what I REALLY wanted to say is that I also put off going to the bathroom when I'm on my laptop, researching David stuff, reading these messages, etc. I cannot drag myself away, and by the time I finally do, I have to pee sooo bad (Ok, maybe too much information, hehe).

Anyone else?

I think I may end up with a UTI! ohmy.gif

I've lost 5lbs since Cookie!
He's a magic man!

CONGRATS!
Alli
I've lost 91lb in total in a year, but for the past 6 months I've been really struggling with the same 7lb, but in the past 3 weeks I've lost 11lb. Lust really does help you lose weight, lol. I want to lose another 30 or so, but for now I'm focusing on the next 9lb so I can join the 100lb club, lol.

Having David on my ipod at the gym really has helped me a lot to keep going when I'm tired or not in the mood. I also ran the Race for Life, a 5k run (about 3½ miles), in 34 minutes and if you knew me I used to hate running, well I used to hate exercise period. Now I'm loving it. I'm doing a 10K run (about 6½ miles) in October. Both of the runs were/are for Cancer charities, so I also feel like I'm doing my bit to help in the fight against cancer. I'm also thinking of building up my training to see if I can do a half marathon or marathon.

So thank you David, you have changed people's lives in ways you probably could never have imagined!

Well done both of you on the losses so far!

Congrats girls, I've lost almost my goal for the summer. Gotta look good for my date with David on Aug. 18th,LOL! If the guy only had an inkling of how much he has rocked our world (he would prolly run for the hills, haha), so for ever in your debt DC! biggrin.gif

I have lost 12 lbs now, all contributable to DC!!! It started the day after his win, when I became obsessed with looking up everything about him. Then I realized I was crushing on him big time. I completely lost my appetite for a couple of weeks and ate a little bit just to have some substance. Now I am on a real diet and have 31 lbs to go for my goal weight. Thank you, thank you DC for giving me the motivation and inspiration to lose this weight I put on over the past 7 years!!! rolleyes.gif
StitchMeUp
Congrats on all the weight loss! I too have found myself wanting to work out more. I have been doingthe Bowflex every day and feel myself getting so much stronger in just 3 weeks...such a fantastic feeling.

It's much more enjoyable to work out or walk with David singing to me through my iPod. It actually makes me feel like anything is possible, like I can accomplish anything and have the strength to do it, because of how he has impacted me in such a positive way. Strange, very strange, to think that a musician can have that kind of effect on people. But somehow he does.

So if hubby ever complains about my obsession, I'll just tell him that David helped me to tone up my body, then maybe he'll shut up. tongue.gif

I am also going to participate in a walk for cancer in August. I may have done this previously, but then again I may not have. Now David has given me a kick in the ass.

July is my month to tone up and lose the last 5 pounds I need to lose. The concert here is August 2nd, so I wanna look molten hot (okay, well maybe just presentable...LOL) just in CASE I happen to run into our man.
Kimberley
I've lost over 20 lbs since mid-April. Even though I spend a lot of time attached to this computer, I have also been walking and dancing a lot more (the dancing because I can't stop listening to Mike and Dave). I haven't been eating as much, because I'm NEVER hungry. I've been living off yogurt, grilled chicken, and Crystal Light for the past 2 months.

Dave should market this diet plan LOL

I've lost 14lbs so far. I started my diet about a month ago specifically because I wanted to be "hot" when David goes on his solo tour. And that's that. The DC diet kind of rocks. When I feel like eating (mostly out of boredom, not because I'm actually hungry - NO STARVING!) I just put on my iPod (usually Sharp Dressed Man). Works every time... I've also started going to the gym more. I work out for the duration of Analog Heart. That's, what, 40 minutes? So yeah. Thanks DC. I might be cute in 6 months. wink.gif

Don't get a UTI! Horrible horrible horrible. sad.gif Schedule some pee breaks for yourself!
queen of pop culture
Congrats ladies! Way to go!

I've got about an hour's worth of DC on the nano, so I get my bike out and ride around listening to DC and go home when there's no more of him to listen to. Getting stronger by the day. My doctor is happy that I've been getting more active.

I too have been doing the "can't tear myself away from the computer" thing. I've lost track of how many nights I've skipped dinner altogether lately. Get home from work, ride bike, get home and turn on computer, search for new DC info incessantly, look at clock...OMG, it's midnight already! Goodness, what's happened to me?

Cookie is inspiring in SO MANY WAYS! rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

You and I are tied for the weight loss! I wish I could be at my goal by the concert, but alas, it is only one week away (I have 30 lbs to go). But I will be happy if I can lose another 5 lbs by then. You are right, we are love sick, and we are all in "lust" rolleyes.gif ! It's like we have all gotten this incredible boyfriend, and it is sooo new we just want to look our best for him! How did this happen to me, omg!!! tongue.gif

I know what you mean! This is the most "absurd" thing ever! It's like when you fall in love, in the very beginning, and you're too excited and full of butterflies to eat! Aside from the not being able to get away from the computer part.

Why on earth do I get butterflies in my stomach (ESPECIALLY thinking about the concert - I think I will like throw up) over someone I have never met? What is THAT all about???? But it's not like I can help it...

If anyone would have told me last year (or even during the season this year! I thought he was talented and sexy but no real "crush" until after the show ended) that I would be feeling this way and actually losing WEIGHT in part due to a mad crush on a musician, I wouldn never have believed them!

I soooo hear you! I would never have believed this could happen to me either. I became so excited about DC (and could not share with anyone except on this board), I finally called my 31 year old daughter in San Diego and told her everything. I felt like I was going to explode unless I physically talked about it, lol! She patiently listened to me, told me I was cute, and probably thought that was the end of it! HaHa! It's probably only gotten worse. But she is coming to Vegas to go to the concert with me next Saturday, yay! I just told my husband he knew he wouldn't enjoy it, but I know I can be myself with my daughter! We are like best friends, and she will allow me to drool! laugh.gif

Haha!

My mom (who is a lot older than you, btw) has admitted to me that she loves him too, and asks me to tell her when he's on tv and all. I burned a CD of Analog Heart for her and she's enjoying it. But I am SURE her crush isn't as obsessive or all-consuming as mine! I don't talk about him much with her, or at least try not to overdo it...she knows I like him but she probably has no clue how much! I think she would start to think I was having marital troubles or something, lol!

My son (he's 13) just today saw a page up on my laptop and said "you are so obsessed with this David Cook guy, it's sick!" "And his music sucks!" Niiiiiiiiice. So you're lucky your daughter understands! But I guess when my kids are adults they won't be so embarrassed by me anymore! Hopefully. laugh.gif

Anyway it's a good thing you're going wth your daughter and not your husband, because how could you possibly talk to him about it? lol. I'm going with my best friend, her daughter, and my 3 daughters. Kind of an Idol tradition for us. They all know about my crush but I try to keep it as cool as possible around the kids and not mention him a billion times a day (just a million!). However I think it will be hard to hide my true feelings for him if I meet him (please God), as I will probably stupidly start crying, or at least very badly shaking.

I love hearing you describe your relationship with your daughter and I hope that's the way I am with my daughters when they grow up. smile.gif I'm sure you will have a great time with her.

And no way would my husband ever want to go...he has never even showed any interest in watching the show, and as a matter of fact gets quite annoyed when it's on and tells us to turn it down. He would probably rather go to the dentist or something. Thank goodness though, because I would never want to go with him!!!!! tongue.gif

That's cute about your mom liking DC, too! I burned a CD for my car to take Analog Heart with me plus some Axium tracks. I also have his live AI and studio versions on another CD. Of course my iPod has a DC playlist! I have got it sooo bad, but his voice casts a spell on me! He is amazing vocally!

I'm glad my daughter helps to feed my fantasy and not shoot it down! She also knows how much I love her dad, so this is harmless. But she shamelessly teases me about it, too! When she came to visit a couple weeks ago, my People mag was out. My husband, daughter and I were in the living room and she opens it up to the David article where he is looking in the mirror. She shields it from my husband and makes a face at me. I got this s**t eating grin on my face and couldn't wipe that smile off of my face laugh.gif ! I had to leave the room, and I asked her if she was going to out me! She said no, she's just having fun with me! My daughter is a hoot, all personality, and we have the best time together. I really hope you do have that kind of relationship with your girls, because it is the best! My daughter also has two daughters and the bond extends to them, too. They are the best! In fact, that is our little saying together. They always come up to me and say, "Grandma Liza, you're the best"! Nothing like hearing those little voices say stuff like that! (They are 5 & 7).

So, now there are six days left till the concert here in Vegas. I am beside myself! I enjoyed this entire season from the first show, so I really got hooked. And I really do love all these kids. They have a feeling like a big family, and I think that is part of what I really loved about it. I think it's going to be a great concert, but I am also looking forward to a solo DC concert. I will get the best tickets that I can for that!

Yeah, I was totally LMAO, when I read that. That was actually a pretty cool reporter, who said this seems to be David's personality the day of the NBA finals. He said he seemed to carry himself like the biggest star there that night and gave him a good review on his National Anthem.

I could totaly hear David say this in a humorous, tongue in cheek way, about himself. I'm sure I saved that interview somewhere amongst my gaggillions of interviews I have saved of David's so I'll be sure and post it here when I find it. tongue.gif

You guys lost weight just by being on the computer? Wow.

DC is helping me lose weight too though. I've been able to stay on the treadmill a lot longer when listenning to him sing on my ipod. The other day I was just about done with my 45 minutes runnning when I accidentally hit play on Day Tripper (Studio version) and since it's a fast song I had to keep running for another 5 minutes. biggrin.gif

I recently downloaded all the Analog Hearts song so in the gym is the best time for me to listen to all of DC's music.

yep hes definately makin the pounds fall off!! 32 lbs to be exact!

Totally agreed! I recalled stating in one of the threads that I am amazed at how I stayed so slim and erhem..sexy still without even hitting the gym. You know, I have to say it's all the hours spent everyday on the chair/sofa/bed oggling surfing about DC on the laptop cos I get all the adrenalin rush and feeling of high doing just that and it is not unlike having a round of treadmill.

But... unfortunately, I do now see dark rings and wrinkles under my eyes, all those late nights catching up on DC is starting to show..*sigh* it's all his fault...heehee

i have lost about 30 lbs and it was partly because of DC...i think lol
because this happened quite recently, i just started losing weight so much but did nothing special to lose them
in fact i started eating a whole lot more but the kilos are coming off....should i be worried for my health?
it doesn't sound normal does it?

Yeah, me too. I am averaging about 4-5 hours a night...I usually only get 6, but even that's not enough.

I have always been a sleeper. But now, sleep doens't seem as important as you know what..lol. There are those nights right till 3-4am and waking up at 630am to get my kids ready to school. And I think, ok, I shall take a nap during the day but before I know it, I am at the computer again. I think this lack of sleep is probably responsible for helping me stay slim.

btw, am happy that you lost all that weight and keep it up for our man! lol

I agree 100%. I'm 37, married, and just average looking, but if I lose weight and tone up, I think I'll feel more confident when I speak to him! It's actually a great diet plan! It's called, "Get skinny so you can flirt with David Cook diet".. smile.gif

I guess you guys can attribute the weight loss from sitting around surfing for DC on the computer may be because DC makes your heart rate goes up. The whole point of doing cardio vascular exercises is to pump up your heart rate to speed up metabolism and burn calories. I suppose for some of you guys, you get a cardio work out by just looking at pictures of David. smile.gif

I unfortunately have to hit the gym, but then I don't mind. Day Tripper got me through my last 5 minutes of my 50 mins on the treadmill again last night.
