My in-laws are here for a visit, and yesterday during the car ride I had some of my husband's jazz CD's playing for them. Then my CD with all David's AI performances came on (I have a 6 CD player). I said, "oh, now time for some of MY music".
They have never watched American Idol, so I was explaining how the competition worked as we listened. They both commented on what a good voice he has.
They are HUGE Phantom of the Opera fans, and when the CD got to Music of the Night all talking stopped. My mother-in-law said, "I got chills down my spine listening to that, it was so good!".
As we pulled into the driveway, "Little Sparrow" studio version was playing. They said, "let's sit in the car until this song is over." And we all sat there in silence and listened reverently!
As I sit here typing this morning, my father-in-law just came in the room and said "I can't get over how beautifully he sang Music of the Night, I can't get it out of my head"!
How cool is that? These are people who love 1940's music, and they were blown away by David. I think his popularity will just grow and grow as more people are exposed to his music!
