Full Version: Chicago David Cook Fans/American Cancer Societyvolunteers Team
David Cook > David Fans > Gift Packages & Organizations & Donations
CareBear
OK Chicago DC fans,
does anyone know if we have our own sub-team? Do you guys want to start one? I've been keeping
Sesot and Blake's emails and printing the rules/requirements, etc. for reference. Send me a message or
email me at Carriboo9@aol.com if you're interested!

Most of the other teams have set a goal of raising $1,000. That's a pretty easy goal given that you just
set up a page thru The American Cancer Society
and then email everyone you know and include the link so that they can go to it and donate directly.
(Or I believe they can call ACS or mail donations in and report them back to the team for tally in total.
I'll try to verify that with Sesot or Blake tomorrow.)

We could meet and get to know each other before the concert at an area near Allstate and check out
each others signs & David-gear/wear! We could work on a larger group sign as well and make sure
we are there together to meet & greet the buses.

I lost my maternal grandfather to lung cancer in 1990, I was his first grandchild. My fondest memory
is when he chose me (as I was the first) to go to his last work Christmas party in 1985. It was a
special time for us to spend alone during the drive to and from the party. The love and respect his
fellow employees showed him was testimony to the wonderful soul he was, and being there to
witness it is one of the greatest priveleges of my life.

Now one of my oldest friends from college was recently diagnosed with Nonhodgkins lymphomia.
He is a strong, positive person and he has just undergone the chemo & radiation and appears to be doing well...thank God. But watching the uncertainty, fear, and emotional strain on his wife (one of my best
friends--they met thru me) as well himself has convinced me to redirect some of my other charitable
interest & support to ACS through this seredipitous opportunity.

Would love to get together before the show, hear your stories-celebrate our loved ones, and show support
for David & The American Cancer Society.
Again, if you're interested, let me know. Even just a few of us together can manage this!! But the more
the merrier, of course smile.gif

Namaste.

Hi, Carrie. Yes, I can add/track offline donations. Just need some finite details in order to credit them. But completely possible (which is why we loved this solution that the national American Cancer Society team suggested).

You might want to head over to the tour forum to see if anyone who is already talking about the Chicago concert is up for joining in. We'd love to have as many folks involved as possible.

Oh, and while we are indeed raising money for a great cause in honor of David, we also *need* your pix for a video for a project in the fall.
Karen.
there's alot of us here from the Chicago and surrounding areas..I think it's a good idea.

I myself lost my dad 1.5 yrs ago. He had lung cancer but, never had a chance to fight it. The dr.s took him off the blood thinners as he started chemo/radiation. Within a week, a blood clot formed and passed and that is what took him.

One of you can start a Chicago team, then others can join that team or simply make donations to your page. They can also form a subteam under the Chicago team. Don't forget the Sign part of the challenge- this is where you can have some real fun. Individuals or groups can make posters. The more folks you met up with at the venue to get in a photo with the sign, the more points you earn. We don't care if you have several signs with the same folks in the photo. We just want everyone to have fun, show David how much we love him, and raise money for a great organization. If you set-up a page for your area, go post it on AI tour forum to get word out faster. If you also send BLake and I a PM, we will send it to all the volunteers we had in the area, so hopefully you can get connected. Several groups have planned to meet up at the arena for photos with their signs, and some are going to make them at the venue while waiting for the buses. Please let me know if I can help get things moving for you.
Thanks for your willingness to join in for this special challenge.

Hey Blake/Lisa,
first off, just wondering if you or Susan will be coming to other cities? Chicago? Indy? Ft. Wayne?
Would like to meet you in person. You gals seem like special ppl...creative & warm-hearted, and
well-organized & professional.

Also, besides pix for main video, would you like/could you use our sub-team video(s)?

Lisa is traveling to 8 possibly 9 shows across the country; I will be at the Atlanta and Kansas city concerts. I will also be traveling to Tampa if we get the larger event moving along there. Thank you so much for your support. We are both very passionate about this and are actually having a lot of fun organizing this. We are very impressed by all the creativity David's fans have for both the signs and fundraising ideas to help their teams.

If you look at the Sport Your Support Challenge rules/ways to earn points, you will see you can earn bonus points by sending a video from your team. We would love to see a behind the scenes video of everything a team/individual does to raise money, process to make a sign, and all the photos/support they can get at the venue. We don't want to miss a thing, and want to share the fun during the tour with everyone.

Thank you again for your willingness to support us for this fun challenge!

lol, Susan. Cracks me up that you know my tour/charity event schedule! LOVE that! (Now, please vacate my brain. You've given me some To Dos to accomplish tonight before I leave town tomorrow. JK. You know I love ya!)

CareBear, I am not currently planning to hit Chicago/Indy/Ft Wayne, but you never know. My travel schedule seems to be changing! Thanks for your enthusiasm, leadership and participation. Would love to see what the Chicago area can do!!

HI everyone,

Ive done some work on the webpage for Chicago-Cook Fans Conquering Cancer. I still need
to revise it Thursday. Give it a look and let me know of any suggestions/additions you'd like.
You can go ahead and donate, but I would wait until after Thursday when it is finished to
email the link to family & friends, etc.

Here is the link/web address:
