Full Version: 'Shout to the Lord' studio version
David Cook > The Other Stuff > American Idol (General)

For those who downloaded the studio version of "Shout to the Lord", does DC have any solos on this track? If so, at what point in the song? I can easily pick out solos from Kristy Lee, Brooke and David A., but cannot seem to hear DC's voice. I love this track (and DC), so I'm just curious. smile.gif

It sounds like David singing "at the sound of your name" and "forever I'll stand" and "forever I'll love you" toward the very end. I'm surprised I don't hear Jason, because he is a Christian and sings at his church and other Christian churches. Thanks for letting us know about this version. I love this song, and I think the Idols did an amazing job singing it! rolleyes.gif

I purchased the studio version a long time ago and decided I liked the live version better. Perhaps it is because I could watch them sing. I felt that David's part stood out more in the live version. It is a good song. Very catchy tune.

also think that "at the sound of your name" could also be jason, at the first part it sounds like dave, but at the end it sounds kinda like jason (?) the other part is definitely our dave

Surprises me, too. I read that Jason Castro asked some folks in his church for prayer when Idol was considering doing this song, due to the fact that at least one of the other contestants is an atheist or agnostic. Apparently Jason was encouraging some of the other contestants to sing it even though they were initially uncomfortable with the lyrics.

last part... are you referring to the DC or DA ownage?
btw i think i hear jason singing with kristy first verse, my comfort my shelter tower of refuge and strength
but archie and michael totally owned that song. carly and kristy too.

I've had the studio version since a week after idol gives back.
i listen to it every day until now.

And dc's voice there is so pretty obvious.... and all wordnerds should be able to tell. haha
but anyway, his parts are:

At the sound of your name (in the chorus)

and he shouts a lot at the end along with Carly.

at the sound of your name is definitely not jason.

jason didn't have a solo part in the song.

he was only back up for kristy in the beginning.

DC, Archie and Carly owned the song biggrin.gif

I had NOOOOOO idea this song was available. I did not get an iPod or iTunes until May, so I obviously missed the opportunity to load it up! I watch this over and over again on YOU TUBE (the first night of the performance, not the second night). David's voice gives me the chills!

Thanks for posting this!!! I have a friend on Limewire and I'll see if he can get it for me!
