"With the American Idol tour stopping in 49 cities, he has a lot of work ahead of him but there is a rock fan who would like to help him. Hard rockers Hinder, best known for their 2006 hit power ballad “Lips of an Angel”, say that they “dig David Cook” and they would like to write some songs for him.
Hinder was in the audience at the American Idol finale and they were able to briefly meet Cook. Cook is apparently a fan of Hinder also."

Hinder to David Cook: 'We'll write with you'

David Cook's already packed schedule is about to get more demanding. With the American Idol tour kicking off tonight and booked through September 22, the season 7 champ will have to juggle concert dates with studio time in order to make the deadline for an early November album release. But one band is willing, if not eager, to help: hard rockers Hinder, best known for their 2006 hit power ballad "Lips of an Angel." "I dig David Cook," says singer Austin Winkler, a native of Oklahoma, where Cook has lived for the past few years. "He shows that the world is starving for a little bit of rock-n-roll. Hopefully we can write some tunes for him."

According to Hinder, who were in the audience for this year's Idol finale and met the winner briefly that night, the admiration is mutual. "I heard he's a fan," Winkler tells EW.com. "I'm sure we'll cross paths." Meanwhile another Hinder member is holding out for a chance at some face time with a female Idol champ: Carrie Underwood. "I love her," says drummer Cody Hanson (no relation to Tulsa's Hanson brothers

Thank you!

I had a total brain fart.....I'm on overload with all the youtube concert clips. tongue.gif

I would love to see a Mariah duet. I'm not a big fan of hers, but I think it would be pretty cool.

Wait...did Dave Grohl actually say that he wanted to work with David? I hadn't heard that.

Yep.
And not only that, Ed Rolland, Collective Soul's frontman and lead vocal, paid David a HUGE compliment after he did TWIK. A week after the finale, he called into a radio show and was asked if he was angry about David covering TWIK. He replied not only did he NOT mind, he was THRILLED to hear someone who can "really sing" do that song justice! He said that he got to be lead vocalist for Collective Soul by default... the other guys just aren't strong singers and Rolland said he's the only one who can at least carry a tune, but he doesn't consider himself a great singer. He does consider David a great singer and said it was great to hear his song done properly!

You know, it might be from the Rolling Stone article or the accompanying video on their web site. Maybe it was David talking about working with him or wanting to, but I remember he said they had met briefly recently.

Oh man, I don't really like Hinder's style so I'm biased on this one.

I'm not fond of Hinder either (the LJ kids had a meltdown at this one BTW) but I think it's telling that so many people want a piece of David and are begging to work with him. Almost everyone he's covered has nothing but high praise for him as well, including Chris Cornell (it was Cornell's fans who had the problem, not Chris. There's an interview with Ryan on his radio station where he discusses it extensively). Lately I've really been wearing out my Audioslave CD so I would love for Chris to work with David (or join Velvet Revolver as their new lead singer. Either is okay with me).

I don't know about a Mariah duet... like, I like her pretty well, for what she does, but David's cover of Always Be My Baby blew hers out of the freaking water. Every once in a while I listen to them both back to back, just to compare. Her's is all feathery and light and poppy and shallow. There's no emotion connected to it at all. And then you listen to David's, and it's this beautiful soul-wrenching song, haunting and amazing. Like, he put all of himself into that song, and she did not. So I dunno. I just don't know how well her voice would do with his.

I agree, I don't think DC should do a duet, although, who knows, it could be very interesting. But I think David should do ABMB solo as a release. I think it would smash the charts. I think Mariah got very excited, because has anyone else done one of her songs and re-released it? I really don't know. Till David came along, I wasn't really interested in music much. She loved the way he covered that song, because he made the lyrics shine. And she felt very validated as a songwriter with his arrangement of that song. DC is just so amazing. I think he could sing the ABC's and make it sound good! rolleyes.gif

I think she got so excited because if he does release that as a single, or even on his album, who knows(though I don't think he will, but you never know), he'll make that song bigger than she ever did. Though I think he's already done that...

I agree... I would listen to him singing the ABCs... smile.gif I already listen to every song of his... every day...

It is great to hear about people wanting to work with him. He is a very talented musician, so I can certainly see why. I bet it is very exciting for him to receive these offers from people he admires.

And since she wrote it, more $$ for her! MWAHAHAHA!

I'm guessing she gets a cut of the ITunes DLs since she is the songwriter. ABMB was huge on ITunes.

And you forgot Lionel Richie.
And Neil Diamond said David gave him goosebumps. Coming from a superstar legend like Neil, I can't think of a better compliment.
