I think THAT was his best version of TOML yet. Loved when he tapped the keyboard musician on the shoulder... always acknowleding his band. He looked so happy... thrilled to be in front of 14,000 people on stage doing what he loves. There's a shot off the jumbotron where he's smiling and is just loving it. I cannot wait until Monday night at Staples!!!!

Great video job!! Let's hope that David Cook doesn't get his head too wrapped up and can't come down - that's what people worry about. All that talk about his new girlfriend - think about all of this pressure, and she knows the background scene somewhat and that's helpful. I really couldn't imagine going through this kind of emotional roller coaster mind boggling, life altering change that he is going through without somebody to work through it. Doesn't matter who she is or why, but that HE keeps himself the way we all watched him come out, so it will be interesting to watch his journey as he develops.

Let's hope that mid-west style remain true in his heart and rocks himself out and blows everybody away, but that he remain in his soul, what we ALL were amazed by him to begin with, his sweetness and graciousness. He sure is good on the eyes - what a cutie flirt!

We've had months to "get to know him" and many of us have literally studied him in our research. I can't imagine him changing. He's just freakin' decent down to the core. He doesn't even conciously try all the time... it's just inate. Like Bon Jovi, Springsteen, Bono (as mentioned by Annette), and his hero David Grohl, I think (feel it in my bones) that he will remain this way. Maybe not as accessible (for crowd control reasons alone he'll soon have to dial back the accessibility sad.gif but I think he'll always be this way).

Having a small theatre background myself it is amazing what you can learn on how to approach an audience, how to engage and communicate with them.

That kind of experience can definitely be helpful (dont think it has harmed him), but HE WAS BORN TO DO THIS!!! HE IS A NATURAL ENTERTAINER, and hopefully we can share lots of memorable times thorough his journey as a rising GLOBAL ROCK STAR, 'cause this forum is just an example of how "powerful" he already is!

I totally agree, and I've said this before. Rock, especially anthemic, stadium rock, is VERY theatrical. A musical theater background provides a solid foundation for getting on that stage and giving a mind blowing performance.

In regards to Stadium Rock and very theatrical - when I saw the Opening of David's set with the light show - his letters of his name flashing, lights swirling, David rising up from under the stage; the smoke and lighting during Billing Jean, his dramatic exit being lowered under the stage again - WOW - I cannot even image what the theotrical effects will be when he is doing concerts on his own.

I have not been too to many concerts, but what comes to mind - years ago (20+ years) now when Bon Jovi played Madison Square Garden - this was the Slippery When Wet tour - and Jon's entrance was him flying from the ceiling to the stage on a cable - very theatrical.

I completely agree. His sweet mother raised him right. If you have a good background, a solid family and lots of good friends to keep you grounded...the right moral upbringing...nothing will change that, not even fame. If you're a good person, you're a good person.

And he's a good person. smile.gif

Yes, we are witnessing the birth of a SUPERSTAR. rolleyes.gif He definitely has the package. Lord but the next year's contestants have their work cut out. How can anyone compare to David Cook. Seriously, has there ever been an Idol that has caused a world sensation like that even before he's even finished in the competition. He's already proven himself without having to put out an album and get radio play to catch on. Anything after him will be a let down. He has incredible charisma and he lets you share and peer into his very soul. HE IS A ROCK GOD. tongue.gif

If anyone has an MP3 of 1 2 3 4 by Brooke, I'd love to see it. Ditto for Dream On by MJ.

Words cannot describe the awesomeness of live Cookie. I also love MJ interacting with the guitar player during IAWBIAR.

On another blog there are actually some posters complaining that Cookie is taking the attention away from whoever is playing lead guitar on these tracks, which is ridiculous. They're backing musicians and it's their job to REMAIN IN THE BACKGROUND. I'm sure whoever is playing lead guitar is well compensated and does not mind.

Besides, look at him. How could the attention be on anything else?

About Dream On I saw yesterday this video, it is from Glendale's concert

You can't be serious--where did you see that?

I couldn't agree with you more that the musicians are there to do their job--they aren't the stars for God's sake. If that was Cook's band and they were all equal (like the Beatles) that's one thing, but he's the star, he's THE AMERICAN IDOL. My bet it is Archie's fans--those that live at rickey.org and invaded every blog on the internet and ever video on YouTube. They will do anything, absolutely anything & have to cause problems. Reading rickey's - you would think that there were no other idols involved in the Idol Tour and everything is about Archie and there is narly a mention of any of the other contestants but they particularly HATE David Cook because they feel their Archie Angel should have one. Seriously, they need to move on.

Apparently, rickey was get a live stream from this woman and the rabid Archie fans were overloading her server as his live blogging was feeding into her's and she got mad and told them to stop. They didn't so when Archuleta showed on for his set--she talked really loud, sung a different song loud and even snored loudly until his set was over. ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE at rickey's site with those rabid fans. He's an Archuleta fan big time but even he has told them off a few times.

Seriously, I am only going to this concert so that I can hear David Cook. How can anybody care what the band plays.

Let's give them an example: Melinda Doolittle during last season did a song and 3 backup singers were next to her. If she sang too loud--then would anyone have complained that she was taking the attention away from the backup singers? No--I swear this is the rabid Archie fans--I can bet my life on it. Poor Archuleta--he'll be the victim in the end. huh.gif

I am loving how David is always acknowledging the band and playing with them. Any time he is all over that stage he makes a point go near the other guitar player and other members- when he goes up the steps or down the steps he goes near the keyboard player - puts his arm on the keyboard players shoulder during TOML.

These folks who complain should move on. I guess there are people that are always going to complain about something.

I just went to iTunes and pulled up the most recent review on TIME OF MY LIFE saw this:

'Archangel4life
2 stars:
Okay well I’m gonna go ahead and tell you that I am a fan of David Archuleta, but I am here with more of a music in general perspective. Yes, I was very upset when they announced David Cook was the winner. I feel like he was good, but not as deserving as the Archuleta. Cook’s cockiness and very conceited personality completely turned me off the first time I saw him. Many of his performances disgusted me. He had no humility whatsoever. I am also led to believe that Cook didn’t really have the most votes. He only won because of a grudge held against Jeff Archuleta who did nothing but try to help and care for this son. It’s a decent song, but I’m not buying it. And doesn’t it seem strange that they already had this song recorded before they even knew he won?''

RICKEY'S SITE HAD LONG AGO DUBBED HIS FAVORITE "ARCHANGEL" THEY EVEN DESIGNED A T-SHIRT.

It was at MJ's, but I think it originated somewhere else. There are quite a few defenders over there who think it's equally ridiculous.

MJ's is a place that can breed negativity about pretty much everything, and there is a particular poster who seems to make it his life's mission to predict doom and gloom for Cook's career at every possible opportunity. The blog has reliable industry information and I respect it for that but sometimes it can be a bit much over there.

I'm only going to focus on the fanwar stuff for a minute but I too am sick of Archie's fans turning everything into a war. Even handstand contests turn into a bloodbath. I really don't think they're helping him at this point. I wouldn't worry about stuff like the TOML review because I don't think the casual viewer is going to read anything out of that except that Archeluta's fans are crazy. What use is there ranting about baseless conspiracy theories in a review thread when nobody but them even cares anymore? It has nothing to do with the music and only makes people think "Archeluta. Crazy Fans. Must Stay Away."

That said, I have watched some of the YouTubes from last year's tour and they don't seem to approach the pandemonium that the Davids bring to the table. Is this new or is it just me?

Funny, those of us that are going to the concerts end of July, August, September - we are wishing the summer away hoping that our time to go to see David and company comes quickly.

in the meantime, at least we get to hear the reviews of the shows before ours and pull down the videos from the performances.

It is going to be wonderful when we finally see David in person.

I uploaded my videos from Glendale...I have a partial of Chikeze's first song. Some Archie fan comments on that he didn't get much crowd reaction or applause. I deleted the silly comment and now posted that I would remove all negative comments for any of the singers. I had another one commenting on Carly doing some weird thing with her arms like she was smelling her armpits. Geesh - can't people appreciate these people and not be so cruel???

The quality of Hello is AMAZING. THank you.
As for reviewer of being cocky, look to be honest it does seem to be cocky in how he handles himself; his voice is ready for the big stage, but he yet needs to learn how to take it in; He's not cocky, but it does to the reviewer may seem that way because this is how he handles it now. I think the "cockiness" as is seen in Arizona will get better as he learns to get comfortable with the stage and have that many people watching.
I mean, already I see a bit of a shift from the clips I saw from Arizona to San Diego.

So true!!! I logged on chat at Rickey.org to support DC! I actually told off all the Archie fans there that when they grow older, they would change their perception on Cook and men like him. I even told them that Archie should join HSM4 so he might finally be able to get his first kiss!!! One girl replied that Archie is way too much dignified for that. LMAO! laugh.gif I nearly told her that Archie must be gay not to have a first kiss at this point in his life! Lucky I still have self control that I didn't type this. But I got kicked off anyway lol. biggrin.gif

Thanks for posting these videos!!! David is a superstar!!! cool.gif wub.gif I'm so proud of him!!!

He's not cocky, but it does to the reviewer may seem that way because this is how he handles it now.

He's playing to arenas full of screaming fans. The last thing he needs to do is rein in in. In this context, you need cocky. That's what it takes to get it done. Piss on the Archies if they see arrogance in that.

I DON'T CARE what the reviewers say. WE WORD NERDS stand united behind our man!
We know he has got a HUGE heart......humble, generous, polite, respectful, sweet, appreciative, fun, loving, charming, caring, ....errrr, someone pls stop me!

Take a look at BONO from U2. He rocked the stage everytime he performs....that's what ROCK STAR is supposed to do on STAGE!! Off the stage, how many countless humanitarian work has BONO done?? Noble peace prize...HELLO! That's what you call a genuine STAR with a ROCK edge....
COOKIE will be like that someday!

YOU SAID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: bolg from Arch Angel shown on previous post.

Who ever wrote this does not know what they are talking about. For one thing, both David and Archie recorded a TOML track so no matter who won they were set to go. Get your facts straight before you spout off your mouth.

Number two, Idol can usually tell by mid season who is the favorite (in this case David Cook)
they then pump up another contestant (Archie) to make it interesting. This is a TV show, by the, way and they want you to keep tuning in.

David Cook won this because he deserved to, not because of Jeff Archuletta. Archie's fans are going to be posting all kinds of things. It really doesn't matter what they say DAVID WON!!!

As for being cocky on stage, have they ever heard of stage presence? David is a performer putting on a show that people paid to see, it would be pretty boring without his entertaining us
now would it not.

Besides, let him enjoy himself! He just won American Idol, for god's sake and he is getting to do what he has worked for for many years.

Sorry for repeating this......I've put it up on a couple of threads

the guy that reviewed the first concert at Glendale also went to San Diego,
here is his follow up report : from the LA Times - Richard Rushfield

On my second listening, David Cook’s set is truly great. All the nights that he brought the Idoldome to a standstill are relived.
