He really got my attention when I learned he was a word nerd. (I love words to the point where I read the dictionary when I'm stressed out because it relaxes me.) The thing that really sealed the deal was when he sang "Music of the Night". I love musicals and especially Phantom of the Opera. He sang it so pure and perfect. That's when I went *thud* for the man.

I really liked his audition, and then I liked his first performance. But he became my favorite contestant when he sang Hello!

I know! Everytime someone says Hello to me I have to say "is it me you're looking for"! And When I say Hello I have to say the whole phrase! Anyway, when he sang "Always be my Baby" I knew I was going to become completely obsessed!

I almost didn't make it through the semis this year. Last year I watched all season and loved Melinda but after a certain point it became obvious Jordin was going to win. So the whole season was kind of sour for me and I really hate Jordin's singles on the radio.

However, I thought Cookie was interesting and kept an eye out for him. I actually wasn't that bowled over by "Hello" although it did make me take more notice of him. It wasn't until Billy Jean that he really came alive for me. I had no idea what he was singing, but I was mesmerized, and suddenly I wanted to throw my panties at the TV, which had never remotely occurred to me when it came to a show like *American Idol*. David Cook, where did YOU come from?

The next week he got his sexy makeover and sang a beautiful version of that Dolly Parton song. Like the rest of the world, I wasn't crazy about Innocent, but I was convinced he had to stay in the game, and voted for him for the first time. Then Always Be My Baby, then Music Of The Night, All I Really Need Is You, and by Top 3 night I was convinced he had to win.

Top 2 night was really upsetting to me. Not only because David was great, but because he wasn't appreciated for his originality next to Archie, who was trotting out the same tired shtick that has been done a thousand times before. And Archie wasn't even that great at it: you DO NOT cover Clay's signature song (Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me) and expect not to be flayed alive by Claymates. (Okay, not Archie's fault. But still).

I was considering not voting, but then I discovered that Cookie was still kicking on Dial Idol. At this point I will mention that I had been drinking because I didn't have to work the next day. That was the only way I made it as far as I did through Top 2 night. I didn't vote all four hours but I kicked it into high gear whenever there was NOT a busy signal. I accidentally voted for Archie a few times and got through each time. It was more a "Fight The Man!" impulse than anything. I also DLed Cookie's complete library on ITunes because I really wanted to support him and I think I'm not the only one. I didn't watch the finale except for the last couple of minutes and had a complete meltdown.

The next day, the Cookie obsession began. Unfortunately, I had gotten most of my Idol fix from the scary boards during the season so I am still fighting off bad habits I learned there. That site does not bring out the best in people.

I have to say this is really the best fandom I've been in in years and although I am maybe a little too crazy, I really am having tons of fun on this board. I feel like one of those teenage girls in the times of Beatlemania. David Cook is better than a fictional character: in fact, they're all better than fictional characters. I really do hope he takes over the world.

I think I'm one of the few that actually liked his "Happy together" song, and loved him from that point! lol I didn't follow religiously like I should have (I missed a couple of weeks), but rooted for him throughout the whole thing, and voted like a mad women every chance I got. When he sang "Hello".....I walked across the room, sat on my knees in front of the TV, and just stared at it. Listening. Watching.

The "had me at hello" really is cliché but none the less...I was COOKed at that performance. Completely.

I knew from the Omaha auditions...DC would be the next idol. I knew I was witnessing greatness and he will make history. I'm so proud to be along for the ride!!!

Always Be My Baby is when I got it bad for him....After that performance, I couldn't get enough. I have only listened to DC since. I even leave him on for the dogs when I'm not home.

I have to admit - I was for a long time, blinded by the dreads...but when the David sang "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face"...I think he sprinkled fairy dust or something on me and I haven't looked back since. I was a late bloomer, I know. But I'm making up for it now...

Right from the start.

When David sang Livin' On A Prayer, I took a liking for him right away.

When he sang Happy Together, All Right Now and Hello, my support for him just grew.

The moment he sang Innocent and Always Be My Baby, I became a full-time fan of him, from then on.

I liked David from the get-go (LOAP... and that snippet of I'll Be before he did Happy Together), but I really fell in love with him after All Right Now (because I love love love that song). But at that time I was also feeling Jason Castro and the two of them were tied for number one. Eleanor Rigby pushed DC ahead and then of course there was Billie Jean. But Always Be My Baby (like for so many others here) sealed the deal BIG TIME! Since then he's been my absolute #1.

I really enjoyed David's performances from the start and knew in my heart that he would win, but turned into a real addict when David sang Baba O' Reilly, at that moment I jumped of from the couch, gave him a bow and a standing ovation with tears daring to spill from my eyes, not carring if my husband thought I've finally gone of my rocker (rather got on to my rocker ) at all.
