Only my mom and I were home and when Ryan paused all I kept hearing was "Cook" in my head. When he said that he'd won I literally flew off the couch and screamed so loud the next morning I had no voice! After I was done screaming I almost cried I was so excited.

Well, right after I did this loud mini-squeal and ran to tell whoever wasn't in the room at the time. Then my friend called, who watched American Idol for like the first time and just the last few minutes of the finale, and was like "Your man just won" and I was like "I know! It's so exciting!"

I was holding my breath. During that pause, I could hear Ryan clear as day in my head say "Archuleta", so when he actually said "Cook", it took a second to register. Then, I let out an ear splitting scream.

I admit it. This 43 year old acted like a giddy 12 year old girl! I was sitting on the couch, my Mother (both parents live with me, I take care of them) was at the table. Ryan say's "David...............................COOK!"
I pulled a serious Tom Cruise and started crying, jumping on the couch!!! (It probably wasn't too pretty either, le'me tell you! Entertaining yes, pretty...not so much!) My Mother, started screaming!! We both did a 4 hour vote the night before, so she was just as excited as I was!

I jumped up and yelled "Yessss" and was clapping my hands!!! Then I got a little teary eyed watching his reaction. I actually get more emotional now when I watch it again. My husband was with me, and we both wanted David to win. I wasn't crushing on DC at the time (at least not consciously), so it was pure happiness for him as a singer/musician. The conscious crush started the very next day and is getting scary strong!!!

I screamed that really annoying high pitched squeal/scream for like 30 seconds straight, my dogs ran to their hidey places. Then I went "HA!" to my mother because she doubted Cookie. Then my brother came down from his room and said "David Cook won, huh?" and I was like "*rocks back and forth to hold back screaming* you watched?" and then he was like "No...I heard you screaming." That's what happened.

I screamed. And nearly fell off the couch as well. And then cried when he sang TOML -- and then proceeded to watch the video of that moment and him singing like, 52 times that night and a bunch more the next day at work -- and yeah.....I was an emotional mess at work the next day....

I jumped off the couch....super high into the air!! I madly screamed YES! Then just shouted screams over and over again! I also jumped up and down higher than I have ever jumped. I so insanely celebrated that I had to rewind the DVR to watch DC's response...I missed the whole thing! HA! Once I watched his response, I was deeply touched and could not stop crying. It still moves me to watch it all again!

First, I let out the breath I think I'd been holding for the whole two hours, then I jumped out of my chair and probably startled my dog half to death (poor baby). I was so happy, I screamed "YES!" to an empty house and danced around the living room for a bit. It just felt like our David was supposed to win and I was so proud of him! And when he started getting emotional, I started tearing up a little too. Right after the show ended, I called my mom's number. I got my stepdad and the first words out of my mouth were "Ok, I can breathe now!" I was so relieved!

I'm a lurker here...but had to post on this one. I did the same thing as all of you. Screamed at the top of my lungs and cried. It is so cool to know that we share this moment and always will. We were there from the beginning and when I am an old lady of 80 some day, and David is the mega Bon Jovi kind of rockstar that we all know he will be, I will still remember that night.

My mom and I were watching it together (we both wanted him to win so bad). We were so nervous, and then right before Ryan announced it my mom cracked and started shouting "I don't wanna know I don't wanna know!!" and put her in fingers in her ears(And I thought I was gonna be the one to freak out). lol we were scared Archuleta was gonna win. Then when Ryan said "Cook" I jumped up screaming like a mad woman, my mom joined in a few seconds later - a little delayed because she never heard obviously. And then we both started crying

Well it was my Mom, Dad, and Me watching it and my three dogs sleeping. So when he won
1) i was in shock(of excitement) so my mouth was wide open
2) then i screamed "YESSSSSSSSSS" like 20 times.
3) then i thrashed my arms around and danced while sitting down on the couch chanting, "YEAH DC! YEAH DC!"
4) I tried to stand up but felt like i was giong to faint...lol cause during the whole show i was shaking
5) then i cried but not that much...idk why i didn't cry more maybe because i was SO happy that there was no need to cry cause i was happy...does that even make sense
and that's what i did when DC won

This 38 year old screamed, clapped and then jumped around like a d***head - no other way to describe it! My four year old thought Mummy had truly lost the plot and then started saying Mummy did your man win!! I had my David Cook shirt on, I had just received in the mail, about 1 hr before the verdict, my new Pandora bead which I had bought as a DC momento, and then I started to tear up - I didn't bawl, but I was definitely teary eyed. I had never been so excited about a TV program in my life!! I was so emotional as I had been through a pretty traumatic time in the past year and somehow, someway, the integrity, honesty and poise of David Cook had inspired me in ways that I never thought possible. This man, our American Idol did more for me over his journey than any shrink or psychotherapist had in the past 12 months!!
So yes...I was very, very excited. He SO deserved it!!

My husband (who is not an AI/reality TV watcher) was standing near me, so I just did a mini-clap and "Yaaaay!"...so excited and relieved on the inside but with really nobody to share the elation. Then he left, and I just sat down and welled up more and more as I saw how emotional DC became on stage. I was just mesmerized for the next few minutes listening to him sing TOML and sharing that moment with his once-competitors/now-friends. It was AWESOME!

I jumped and let out this scream that sounded like it didnt actually come from me cause I never knew I could make such a loud annoying sound like that but then that scream went into an even louder version of the one before and then I started spinning around in circles pounding my fists in the air somewhat similar to a Native American rain dance and then I started to cry with pride and joy for him when I saw him get so emotional and bend over and Ryan had his arm on his back

My husband and I were watching from our bedroom. When Ryan started talking, I believe I broke out in a bit of a sweat. I so wanted our David to win, but fully expected to hear "Archuleta." We had gotten home late and were watching from our TiVo. Yeah, you know what happened. As soon as I heard "Cook," I did a couple of fist-pump things and started crying. Unfortunately, as soon as Ryan announced his name, our TiVo stopped. It was probably the most frustrating moment of my life. I kissed my husband goodnight and headed off to You Tube. It took a few minutes for someone to post the finale, but there I sat in front of my computer crying. What a great time!

I was still bitching at Simon for his too-late apology when Ryan started to open the envelope. I was convinced Archy would win because of the tweener vote, and (don't hate me for this) the Mormon vote blog--if there even was such a thing. When David's name was announced I think I just shouted YES! about ten times and then settled down to watch his touching reaction to the whole thing. God, it was an awesome moment.

I was sooo nervous right before Ryan gave the verdict. I was shaking and had a death grip on a couch pillow. When Ryan said Cook....I jumped off the couch....threw the pillow aside....starting clapping and yelling OMG HE WON!!!! and commenced jumping up and down in my living room. I'm pretty sure everyone in my apartment building heard my reaction lol Then of course after he sang & it was over....I rewound my DVR to watch it again. And to this date, I still haven't deleted it from the DVR, along with the performance show from the night before.

I was watching it with my mom who also wanted him to win but not nearly as bad as I (and during the show I had been texting my friend who wanted him to win, too) and when Ryan said, "David.....", I had like every possible part of me crossed and I was holding my breath and in my head I was going "Archuleta Archuleta Archuleta" not because I wanted him to win, but because if I had been thinking Cook and he said Archuleta, I would've had major disappointment, so when Seacrest said COOK!, I let out my breath and kind of did a excitement-seizure-thing, and my mom next to me was going 'YES! YES! YES!' and standing up and then I got up and we hugged and then my friend who I had been texting called me but neither of us could even say anything and we were just making weird happy-squeaking-screaming noises. Then my mom started talking to my brother about school DURING TOML and I was like OMG. SHUT UP. HES SINGING. and so she was killing my excitement so when David finished TOML I went upstairs where no one could see me and started hopping around and happy-dancing and I couldn't stop smiling.

I was biting my nails off, really really nervous and excited at that point. I figured Archie would get it but REALLY REALLY wanted Cook to win. And he DID! I was cheering, clapping... alone in my room so I didn't have to worry about having an audience, just joyful moment! I had been avoiding accidentally stumbling across the news on the net all day too, cos we get the results about half a day after the US and I didn't want to spoil the moment for myself.
Finally, the contestant I supported WON the show! Woohoo! Still makes me happy when I remember it. And how gracious he was when he won, wanting Archie to join him, giving props to him, including him in that moment. Magical. *happy sigh*

I really thought that all of the preteen girls would have stayed up all night voting for Archie! I really did!

So I was ecstatic and all I knew how to do was text all of my friends and tell them!

A few gals, young and old from our church were in the Pastor's office to watch the finale (last hour anyway). I was sooooo nervous, wanting David to win and when he did I said yessssss and then I got emotional when David did. I hollered out to the men in the hall to tell them that DC had won. Then my little daughter-in-law called and said "Your guy won!!!!!" We all were just gushing because we were sooo thrilled David won. I have watched the winning moment jillions of times cause I can't get enough of it. This crush stuff has hit me hard------can't believe it and I'm a 59 year old grandma that should know better.

Fortunately for me, my husband had driven up to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland the day of the finale. So, I was able to see the whole finale on our big screen TV without having to listen to him tease me for being so engrossed in the show. When Ryan announced "David.......", I was saying a prayer and repeating the word "Cook, Cook, Cook". When Ryan actually did say "Cook", I jumped off the couch and screamed so loudly that I scared my cat! LOL! As David sang "TOML", I started to tear up since I was so thrilled for him and his family. I still get goosebumps whenever I re-watch him sing that song. I recorded the finale onto a DVD, and then made 2 copies of the DVD to give to friends.

I was sitting on our sofa and I was trying to hold my breath while Ryan was still announcing the winner. I told myself that "please say it's David Cook" but at the back of my mind said, "no, David Archuleta is going to win." So, when Ryan said it was Cook, it took me a while to register before I literally jumped and screamed for joy.

Ok, after a few drinks at the way-too-long bbq at my friend's house today, I'll talk! I was so shell shocked after Simon (and to some extent Randy's) behavior the night before, I was going crazy. So I logged onto one of the big sites (I can't remember now, EW? MTV?) that did a live blog of the east coast feed (for those not in the USA, that's 3 hours ahead of LA where the show is tape delayed). I figured, if he wins, I'll really enjoy this great finale (which turned out to be better than great), and if he loses, maybe I'll calm down and still enjoy it. Well, let me tell you. It's 7:02pm and the blogger types in COOK WINS, and I'm alone in the house and let out a big old yell. Can you believe, I actually felt a tear coming up. Got the lump in the throat. Then relief. So I'm reading further, and it's quite amazing to see it in text instead of on screen:
"David's family is on stage... his head is in his hands. He's weeping... crowd is going wild... it's amazing..." Just reading that DC's weeping practially makes me start weeping. Now I just can't wait to see that moment... I really really enjoyed the show knowing it turned out with a happy ending. And it didn't spoil it at all for me. When those final moments unfolded on screen, I was just beaming. Got that lump in the throat again. So that's how I reacted.
