I absolutely LOVE hearing the man talk! I just adore his tone and his...accent? If I'm even able to call it that, since we're both American and
should nearly share the same accent.

It's funny to hear several people talk about David's accent. He's from the Midwest (like myself) and we Midwesterners feel we have the least accent of all the rest of the country. However, when we travel it's like everyone knows where we're from. I don't hear the accent at all but it's cute when people notice it.

I could listen to him talk all day long. He has a voice like human chocolate, so warm and rich but I also love the fact that he's so articulate, there are very few uhhhhhh.......ummmmmmmmmms in his speech.
Much as I think Archie is a cutie, when he talks, I cringe. I appreciate he's very young, but the same thing happens when I listen to famous actors, they are so inarticulate, especially Hugh Grant, he drives me crazy. Stop with the uhhhhh.....uhhhhhh.......uhhhhhh, you only get away with it in the US because you have a British accent.
Wow, I went off at a tangent there, didn't I? lol. But back to the subject, yes, I love his voice. To my ears, he does have a very soft accent compared to lots of Americans, but as a Brit I can only really tell Southern and North Eastern accents apart from everyone else, lol.

I love his voice too. Does anyone notice that he sounds different in different situations? Like there's his interview voice, his casual hanging out voice (such as in the BTS videos and his latest youtube vlog), the concert voice...
I like the casual voice the best, it's kinda..I don't know...slurry? Can't really describe it.
But I love when he talks in ANY situation. His voice is so deep and...gah.

AMEN to that Tlatz.Quoting Paula HE IS THE WHOLE PACKAGE, and for me that means he was such a well-defined person/artist and he is able to exude his emotions/charisma/sense of humor (ALMOST EVERYTHING) from his voice (whether singing, talking, laughing), eyes and the WHOLE OF HIM.
That is why he is a great performer and communicator (when he does chooses to do so, otherwise he seams to be a private person on everything pertaining to his personal life).

OMG Mely, I think most of the fans who are "enamored" or infatuated with him looove every single aspect of his persona. I personally adore his smile, eyes, belly (it seams to be made for cuddling) and of course his voice: Im amazed of how while he is singing it can be so tender and at the same time so rasp, it makes my senses insane!! (being a HSP a have a real keen hearing)
About his speaking voice I just love his low timbre and smoothness, just another reason why he is so damm cool!mmm maybe I got too excited and inspired with this topic, hehe, think I should return to the fangirl one. sorry fellows but he just "melts me", like if my inner molecules are made of chocolate when exposed to him!!!

i've actually said before on onother thread, the one that asked what got you hooked on cook or something, that it was his voice when he said "for sure" to randy after he sang that really got to me. i hadn't paid attention to what he said before he sang, and i heard him singing, but i wasn't watching him even when he sang. i don't know how to explain it, he just got to me and i ended up rewinding to hear his intro and his singing again. after he won, i somehow ended up on the KC Fox online site (probably from a link someone posted) and i watched all the videos they had there. there was one where he was talking to a reporter and he kept saying "for sure" quite a lot. it was funny. i went crazy. i loved it. maybe it was an "accent" as someone stated before, i'm not sure, i didn't recognize one. i just heard something in that phrase and his voice, and its one of those little things that grabbed me. can't quite explain it. so, YES, i love his voice when he is both speaking and singing. Mr. Cook is awesome!!! **essie**

His voice and his laugh really get to me. At the end of the Love Guru clip when he laughed, I just melted and ended up laughing too. I've lost count of the number of times I rewound just to hear his laugh. It so intoxicating.

OMG!!! I DID THE SAME AFTER HEARING HIM LAUGH AT THE END OF THE GURU CLIP! rewond it many many times
I just couldnt get enough of his silliness and how he literally cracks about archie suddenly putting his hand to hold the foam, man my fav funny videos of him are when he is hanging out with either Archie or MJ, is like watching two brothers or long time BBs having a total blast!! I so loove to have DC as my older or younger brother!!! and DA tooo!
It is so noticeable that his a middle kid!! Im too!!! And sometimes he so mature and insightful (just like my boyfriend who is a year older than me), or so like a chicken-mother/father and leader of the pack (like my older brother), and sometimes so dorky and truly a joker (like my little brother, who is a year younger than me) and I loove these aspects of his personality cause they match some of the traits of three of my fav men in the world! just adore him for that!
P.S. Sorry I keep changing in my posts, from DC speaking voice to brotherly love, but that is just the way I always am, be patience with me, please

At first I felt weird because I, too, thought I was the only one who loved to listen to him speak. If I'm not listening to him on the Music Player while I'm online (God bless Travis for that), I find myself spending hours listening to his various interviews. He's incredibly bright, and actually
listens to the questions before responding.
One of my pet peeves is when the person being interviewed uses the word, "like," in every other sentence.

The first time I heard David speak, I was totally captivated. Not only does he have physical beauty and a magnificent voice, he's sensitive, intelligent, and has a wicked sense of humor! He truly is the whole package.
As for his having an accent, I lived in NJ and worked in NYC up until two years ago...so I'm sitting here thinking "What accent?" What's everybody talking about?

That cracked me up.
Hope everyone is having a great 4th of July weekend!

What do you mean? Do you have a NJ/NY accent but don't think he sounds any different?
And also, I'm with DC - I think I say too-er, not tore.

Not at all, TaylorSue. As a matter of fact, I don't hear ANY accent at all from David, thus my confusion regarding the comments about his little Midwest accent. I would never be able to tell where he was from, just listening to him speak. (Like you and David, I also say too-er.) Most of my friends and family up north do have accents of varying degrees. I became self-conscious about my own accent when I was teased about it a few times and decided, then and there, to make an effort to lose the accent. It took some practice, but I think I succeeded. When I travel out of state, people ask me where I'm from. They're surprised when I say NJ. (BTW, I'd move back in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it's gotten way too expensive, so there's no going back.)
I hope I answered your question.
