I dunno about all of you... but every time I've seen a post from the CookBot I'm seeing porn.
And not David arm porn (lol, sorry, I had to say it)!
I'm getting actual porn in the posts of girls doing nasty things! And I don't want, or need, to see that!

I love The CookBot, but I really do not love porn.....
This is an issue. I know there are many younger users on this site. I'm 18, myself, but I know that we have girls on here as young as 11.

What do I/we do about this??

Lindz, are you using Mozilla Firefox as your browser? If you are, you may want to use ad blocker to block out those ads from the Cook Bot.

the ads are usually generated from the forum content so there should be nothing nasty in them....

I'm not having that problem, thank goodness! Not that I think anything is wrong with porn, but there is a time and a place for it, and this site isn't it! Like the other poster suggested, put your ad blocker on. My Norton Internet Security program pretty much keeps everything under control, with my pop up blocker and Ad blocker always being on. I hope you get it fixed soon!

I've got my popup blocker. No spyware. Everything seems completely normal.
My antivirus stuff is fine, too.
I don't have any idea why it's showing up. But I don't like it.
First, my vids and pictures won't upload and now porn??

Ad blocker and pop up are two seperate thing. Do you have them both running?

I have never encounter the "porn" issue you have and as Cookeys Fan said maybe is your browser who allows all that nasty spam. Spam can either come from the web-cookies (LOL) or spyware, so even though your antivirus works just fine, spam can get to you via Internet Explorer because it has so maany security flaws that even the people at microsoft rather use firefox!

You just have to download it and install it, if you want to migrate your favorites from IE to Firefox, or have any other question I can gladly help you. Night!

I think Ad blocker is a function (or extension) that can only be used in Firefox. So you better change your web browser girl, at the end it will give you less of a hard time.

The one I just saw when reading this post says "See Anna Get Some" with a suggestive photo of Anna Nicole Smith. Ugh! I understand that Travis needs these ads in order to pay for this site, but if there were a way to make sure it stayed clean that would be really nice.

The most annoying ad isn't porn though, it's the one that says "You've just been selected to win two free iPod Nanos." FREAKS me out when I'm rocking out to DC while browsing the boards...

Hmmm, I use IE and when my Norton is on it keeps the Ads and the pop ups away. If I turn it off all sorts of sh*t starts popping up on the pages! I'm gonna turn them off right now just to see if the ads pop up for me...

Unwanted content is always an inconvenience to say the least, plus the fact that you are here to see cookie not boobs LOL! Do you delete your cookies before you log off?
You said your scans came up clean.
The same thing happenened to me on my space, adds for singles kept coming up.

I kept running my scans, clearing my cookies ' yes pun intented'LOL
Eventually I got rid of it.
It might be spyware. Make sure you update your definitions and run your scans on a regular basis.
Also you might want ot make sure your pop up blocker is on.

I've noticed the same thing starting today (or I guess technicially yesterday)... I will admit that if it continues I'll no longer visit the board. It is a huge problem to me... I have have my parental blocker on (even thought I don't have kids) and just this is coming up... Like someone said I understand that Travis needs the added support the bot brings in but no this is just wrong.

It.is.not.spyware. It's the Cookie Bot and I'm seeing boobs too. The site owner should be able to make choices about which ads run and the sex ads shouldn't be a choice.

But, I hate even more the two free nano ads. That needs to go too.

If there is any way for an individual to pay directly to support the site and not see the ads, I would happily do that.

I'm getting the same as Lindz - just started this morning when I logged on - and I can't really download any blocking stuff as I'm on my work computer at the moment, and the boss might notice and I'd rather he didn't know about my whole 'Chatting about DC when I supposed to be working' habit.

The middle advert on Cookie bot seems to be filled with videos of porn, personally I'm in my 40s so am pretty immune to it, but there are minors on here, so it's a bit worrying.

I've got both Firefox and IE but only use Firefox for this site.I get adds from Match.com and the like but I've never seen porn.
You should really get spyware protection.When my pc starts playing up,I run ad-ware and most times it works fine after that.

I saw them last night too. A few places it said to "click to see movie". I find them very annoying and in bad taste, especially with all the young fans that are on this site.

Hopefully Travis can do something about this.

oh really?! i've never had that problem (and thank god!) everyone else is probably right, i mean as far as i know, this is a pretty clean site. maybe it is ur internet browser. but i don't get it, i'm using internet explorer and nothing like that comes up for me.

This is really odd and worrying. Not even in the fangirl thread have I ever seen suggestive adverts. Never encountered a problem of this nature. Has anyone told the mods/admins yet? And changing her browser (though I seriously recommend Mozilla/Safari) is not going to change the fact that other people using IE are encountering this (if it is indeed IE-related) or that minors using IE could stumble across this. Very worrying indeed.

It's bugging me and I want to get it off my chest--I'm tired of seeiing comments like in YouTube or where ever talking about our boy David being FAT or gaining weight, etc (It does NOT happen here!). But I'm sick of it. He is gorgeous just the way he is and he is DEFINITELY NOT FAT! WTF!

You would know more than the rest of us because you came into very close personal contact with him in a mind blowing stellar way. In my opinion, and it's just "an opinion" to quote someone famous on AI, people are too into the "six packs" and "size 0" stuff. Pleople like that spend HOURS trying to get the 6 packs, etc... What a waste of time! Life is too short and there are so many more important things - like caring, thinking, helping others, creativity, trying your best, being positive, being artistic and tru to yourself, family, friends, love, (might sound corny, but I AM old enough to realize this now).

I believe this is part of the connection we have with David who is always compassonate, caring, going for what he wants to do in life, going out of his way to thank people, staying true to himself and his integrity is epic--(I could go on and on). These things will last a whole lot longer than a damn six pack! (Whew! Thanks for letting me unload)!

I just logged on again to this page now and did not receive any pop ups - maybe the issue is being worked.

I haven't seen any porn on my Cook Bot. The ads that appear on the Cook Bot are regional - many of mine refer to the Reno, NV area - where I am right now. So you're seeing different ads than me. I'm glad to have someone paying money to support the site, but there has to be some way for them to regulate the type of ads. Travis?

OK...I recieved annette's report. Unfortunately, the mods can't do anything about it, travis has to take care of it.

I sat here and refreshed and refreshed and I didn't get any porn, but I'm not saying it didn't happen either. The ads may be out of travis's control.

The report has been made, but, it is a holiday weekend and he may not be around to take care of it STAT...so please be patient.

I wasn't seeing that content with the Cook Bot, but I was seeing it after every darn post when it first launched. I had to defrag my computer and ultimately ponied up the $$ to get the Norton Bot blocker.

Oh, no! LINDZ! You jinxed me somehow. Now I'm getting salacious ads with the Bot! And I just defragged yesterday. UGH.

I've only seen one offensive ad so far. But even that's one too many.

The browser I'm using is Opera and I never got porn in the ads. Some were dating ads. Honestly tho, I don't even notice the bot anymore cos I'm used to scrolling right past it by now.

I was seeing the porn ads for a while too and I ALWAYS use Firefox. They seem to have gone away for me.

I find porn more amusing than disturbing, so I don't have any real objections to this sort of thing, but there are tweens on here. It seems to have gone away for me now.

Slightly OT: I wouldn't take the comments on Cookie's weight on YouTube any more seriously than the multitude of ones about his sexuality. Just stupid people spreading %^%$%$#@!@.

Well, there goes the browser theory. This problem is real weird cause it seams to randomly affect some members and other not at all! So maybe the administrators could have an idea of how to solve it, or what kind of action could we take to stop this porn spamming.

P.S. Sorry if I came out a little condescending in my preview post, I re-read it and thought that it might be interpreted that way. That wasnt intended at all, just wanted to help but I tend to go over the top with my explanations and be bit nerdy about stuff. I currently havent encountered this issue myself, so I thought it was because of Firefox.

Yes I too have been getting the suggestive ads and was very annoyed. I agree it is a problem with minors being on this site and able to see this. Of course the first thing I wondered was why the advertisers would even want that on this site I can't imagine they are getting any hits from a bunch of women who are crazy about David Cook.
