David Cook > David Cook > All About David Cook
Scott
First congrats to David Cook, Travis, and all of us for surpassing 10,000 members. It's nearly 10 & 10... 10,000 members and 10 million hits!!
The pace of membership gains and hits has picked up exponentially this week. The hits most certainly picked up with Lindz' experience meeting David & Company and then increased even more with all the great concert clips.
But I'm also wondering if AI fans and their famly/friends, who maybe weren't die hard David fans but went to the concerts, were blown away by his performances... and started joining d-c.org. I would think that "general AI fans" fall under DC's spell the moment they experience him live. Just one more Scott theory!!
d-c.org is getting between 100,000 to 200,000 hits per day!!!

I don't know!!! I've got to get off this thing!!! You'd think I'd be dead tired after being in the sun much of the day and having a few drinks at my friend's bbq. And why am I not crashing from sugar? OH, I'm still getting the rush! I'll be out cold in 10 minutes probably.

Oh man the sugar crashing comment was so hilarious!

I was going to say what kind of stuff did you drink to get so inspired, but I settled for coffee, being a huge caffeine addict myself!

Haha! I can relate to that, Rockchick. I've all but abandoned my former online haunts. Friends from there have started emailing me to make sure everything's OK. LOL! I tell them I have an incurable obsession with David Cook. Some of them get it and some don't, but I keep spreading his name every chance I get.

Most of the forums I've participated in have been small and intimate. This is my first experience with such a colossal board and I find it a bit intimidating at times. 10,000 members!!! Whoa!!! How can anyone keep up with everything going on here at this fantastic site?!?!? Even if I spent 24 hours a day here, I'd still not be able to keep up with all the posts, listen to all the interviews, watch all the videos, and respond to all the threads I'd like to. And it's a bit harder to get to know people, but everyone is generally friendly and helpful, and even though the board is large, it still has a "small town" feel to it that I really like.

The burgeoning membership is a testament to Travis and the other mods who've created such an inviting place to hang out and share our mutual love of David Cook. And it's a fitting tribute to David himself, who continues to win fans whereever he goes. He's his own best publicity/ambassador.

I'm proud to be a part of this group. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you at DC's concerts.

The answer is simple.....this is a great site with a ton of great people. All true David Cook fans. Sure there's an occasional off moment, but its all about agreeing to disagree at times.

I wandered a few other sites before settling here, and except for the occasional side trip over to the Word Nerds board. I'm loyal to D-C.org. Everyone is so nice and I really appreciate sharing our mutual obsession.

Thanks to all for the good times. biggrin.gif

I completely hear you on this. I stumbled across this board after the finale when I was trying to feed my obsession (I really don't remember how I came across it) and I just haven't left. This is an amazing community that is seriously the best place to keep up to date with all of David's appearances and such. And with the tour - its just awesome. Since it is huge, I have had to pick a threads I do visit every day and the rest when I have some time - works out better for me that way. But it still is home. I have all but neglected other sites that I visit - this is generally the first one i run to when I log onto my computer - even before I check my email! This is a wonderful plethora of information and I'm really not too surprised that it's growing so fast!!

10,000 members and almost 10 million hits -- that's just awesome. smile.gif

Congrats to all members! Every single member makes this a great place to come -- because we focus on the important things like David's music, career, and causes close to his heart. The respect with which we all (hopefully) treat each other, and the camaraderie we share definitely makes this place unique. I'm not surprised that more and more people are joining our little community. The timely and accurate information we all contribute make D-C.org second to none!

Congrats to Trav and all the mods, too. Thanks for all you do.

I think the international aspect of this forum is one of my favorite things about it. David could win a nobel peace prize for pulling us all together lol!!

If anyone is even remotely interested in David and they find this site, they will be Cookified. It's a great place. It's fun to read other's takes on DC, and to be able to contribute as well. I know we have all ages, genders, sexual orientations, and nationalities here because we are all in David's corner. Following his journey is exciting, especially for us old goats who haven't been this turned on to a music star in a loooooooooooooooong time. Congrats to Mr. Cook, and to us!

Scott,
I love you and I love your theories. You are so often absolutely "right on!"
We may have had an upsurge due to last week's posting frenzy, but I agree that the real reason for the increase is the man himself! Everyone wants to see what he does, what he will do, and is psyched for the future music he will make.

Well said Blake!

When I first went looking for DC sites...there were tons to go through, but it was one of those things where, you come to D-C.org, and you just knew this was the place to be! Seriously...I stopped looking, signed up, and haven't left yet! This place ROCKS and
David made it so!

I too thought about signing up for some other sites - but this site is the place to be.

Thank you Travis, the moderators and to all who participate and make this site successful.

I don't remember how I found this site either but BOY am I glad I did! This place is like David Cook's own personal CNN...all David Cook, all the time! I truly love it here...the community is so welcoming, why would anyone ever want to leave? People burn CDs for you, they send you bracelets...it's unbelievable sometimes. It gets harder every day to tear myself away (EEK! Bad poetry alert! sorry tongue.gif ). DC's fan base will only grow larger so the mods better batten down the hatches! wink.gif

ETA: Oh yes, and where are my manners? A big huge THANK YOU to Travis and all the mods!

Thanks to Travis and all who work so hard to keep this site up to the high standards with which they started. I don't remember how I came across this site, and I have looked at others, but this one is set as my home page so it is the first thing that I see when I log in. I also want to thank all of the members, I have never been a part of any kind of chat room or message board, but this one just called my name (it is good to have a place to feed my Cookie obsession with others who understand what I am going thru) and you all have been so welcoming and patient with the newbie. So congratulations and keep up the good work laugh.gif

Well-said, BLake! Also, my sentiments exactly. smile.gif

Also, the message board is well-maintained in a way that even fans of DC living outside of the USA feel comfortable and at home here, and that includes me! wink.gif

So yes, kudos to Travis, the mods (but most of all, the cool members here!) for making D-C.org a cool site for us fans of David Cook to hang out in. happy.gif

Amen, sister, Amen!

I completely forgot to thank the mods in my last post. This has to be a monumental undertaking and I, for one, am extremely appreciative.

BTW, I found this site when I googled "David Cook," hoping to find his myspace page. I think this site was around the 3rd or 4th line down.

Same this side, I am a member of another celeb site, more like a silent member since joining this forum, and it doesn't even come close to this. I stumbled on to the forum while searching for Davids music and immediatly felt at home, knowing that this is where I truly belong.
I just would like to thank every single one of you for making this my little piece of heaven. I really feel like I'm part of one close knit happy David loving family. I think I would have gone of my rocker by now, suffering in silence if it weren't for you guys. Love you all smile.gif .

Why am i not surprised? The magnetism that is David Cook is hereby vindicated. Thank you Scott, for bringing the facts out.

First of, very big thank you to Travis and team for having this site set up in the first place and doing a brilliant job at it.

When AI7 ended on TV, I could not let my connection with David end as such as he has me so hooked and spellbound by then. I sourced desperately online for anything and everthing about David and have visited a few sites but found d-c.org as the place to be. No other site gives me all the DC fix that I so need as satisfactorily as does here. And I have to give a big shoutout to all you awesome fans here who I feel played a big part and contributed to the success of this site. The topics and threads posted here reflects the commitment and true devotion to this rare phenomenal gem of a rock star none other than David Cook and makes me feel proud to be a part of it!
glenacook56
i also would like to thank everyone who had a hand in creating this site. i haven't been posting much lately. too busy reading and watching everything!! and after all the thank you's that have been posted for any one particular great picture or video by the time i see them it would just seem "trite" to add another!! anyway, it would be a very, very, very, long cookie-less summer for me without all of you. thanks to you all!!!!

I just clicked the link to Daughtry's fan site and just saw something amazing. We all know how huge Daughtry is, and most of us love him. But lets compare some numbers and get psyched:
mrDaughtry.com Registered members: 17,485
mrdaughtry.com Hits: 13 million+
Now look at this site... in just 5 months, 10,000+ members (half of which joined since the season 7 finale just 6 weeks ago!) and just about 10 million hits. What's amazing is that David has been on the scene for just 6 months, and really only a breakout star for the past 3 months. His new album isn't even out yet!! Now consider this: Daughtry is 4x platinum and has been charting for 18 months (Chris was on AI more than 2 years ago) and yet David's site already has 60 percent of Daughtry's number of registered members, and nearly 3/4 as many hits!!
If dialidol is a reliable indicator of how the contestants did each week, then this is certainly a reliable indicator of what DC's fan base is going to be like when his albums out, and beyond. HUGE HUGE HUGE.
lafingalthex
I'll say it again. This is the best Fan site ever! I look forward to coming home from a 12 hour day to friendly faces (avatars???) and conversation (posts). Thanks Travis! You ROCK!

Me too, unfortunately only a moderator can change a title... and I'm not sure if even a mod can do that! The "nearly" is outdated! Maybe I'll start a new thread (like there aren't enough threads already!). But this needs to be bannered!
