I've just been able to get Analog Heart and OMG it is so good. He is such a talanted musician. To think that this was all several years ago. Wow.
My question is..........I thought I read awhile back somewhere that David said which one or ones of this tunes were hsi favorites. Did I imagine that or does someone know????

When David was on Tour, someone was having the Analog Heart CD signed and asked him what was his favorite song. He answered it was Silver because he was very sick with meningitis when he wrote it.

I remember hearing that, thank goodness he's ok now! Silver's my favorite, as well =)

I also remember he said Silver, cause he was having meningitis. I think he did an amazing job recording that song while being sick. He must have had a terrible headache and a high fever during that! I really respect him for that.
You can hear it in his voice, that he is not ok.

As I remember he said it's Silver cause this is the only one he wrote especially for Analog Heart.

There's more than one type of meningitis, some more serious than others. There's viral and bacterial meningitis, he probably had viral...bacterial is the one that makes the news for outbreaks and such, and is the one with a fairly high mortality rate. If it had been bacterial, he probably would've been far too sick to do any writing or recording. Either way, though, it wouldn't be fun to have, and both types can be really serious if left untreated...I can understand why he's particularly fond of this track. I love it, and it's all the more amazing that he wasn't 100% while recording it...

Actually, I have a friend who specifically asked him what his favorite and he told that it was Silver, cause he had mono, not meningitis.

I also heard David say his favorite song on Analog Heart was "Silver," because it was the last song he wrote for the album. I also love Silver (and, of course, "The Truth"). Analog Heart is a great album, especially when you stop to think of how it was done, with $1000 borrowed from family and friends. David is so very talented!

in an interview where he said his favorite songs he ever wrote were permanent, Straight Ahead and ADAM. i guess thats why he always plays it at shows.

I don't think it really matters what he was sick with, meningitis or mono, it's an incredible song. I actually sang that track on the AH Tribute CD that some of us put together last year. I don't sound too great on it because I was singing to a pre-recorded track that was not in the right key for my voice, but it ended up okay I gueeesssss..

Anyway. Love the song. Love the album.

No, I didn't but I hadn't checked the thread in a while. Stacey was supposed to email us to get our address to mail us the CD, but idk what happened. I actually told David about it when I spoke with him in Tyler, TX. I asked if he remembered the CD, and he said yeah. And then I told him that I was one of the girls who sang Silver. And then he said, "Alright!" And gave me a high-five. *dies*

Oh my gosh that's amazing.

I've never gotten to meet him.

But someday, someday. That's so cool though. I wonder if he ever actually listened to it... I hope he at least looked at the scrapbook, cause that was really cool. Though now in retrospect, I think that everything I said in my letter to him was totally stupid. It's like I was tongue-tied on paper.

Haha, yes, someday! I actually thought I was never going to meet him, but I was with probably one of the luckiest girls on the planet. I kinda got the vibe that he knew what I was talking about, but he hadn't actually listened to it. Which I'm kinda glad about, 'cause compared to your voice, I sucked. I had heard your version, but not our version combined. And I totally know what you mean about being tongue-tied on paper; I did that little scrapbook thing for him, and my friend gave him a letter from me at the Houston AI show that I wasn't able to go to. And I felt like a complete moron for doing it, but I wanted him to know that I support him. And he's so sweet in person; I got a hug from him, a couple of high-fives and a signature. Oh, and a pic!

Nice! That's really awesome.
I'm sure you didn't suck... I felt like I sucked. I can sing, but the song, at least the beginning, was definitely in the wrong key for my voice... but I'm still so glad that I got to be a part of that project, 'cause we're the only ones, you know? It's just so cool. But I really want to hear the final version... I guess I should message Stacy and ask. The last I heard was that they were going to put it up for download so we could burn our own copies and they would mail us the artwork, but maybe they forgot.
