Hi everyone. I’m Sharon from the David Cook Fan Community. I haven’t posted here before, but I do read this board often. First of all, thank you to the people in the multimedia section who have shared so much of their stuff. I have definitely benefited from it.
Now the mystery….. We’ve discovered that among us there are 2 versions of Porcelain. One is 3:38 long and can be found in both 320 kbps and 160 kbps. It is the version in the link from this site to download Analog Heart, and it is the version that people who own the physical CD have shared with me. However, there is also a 3:53 long version with a longer guitar intro at the beginning which adds that extra 15 seconds. It seems to be a lower quality version. It’s labeled 128 kbps, but when I put it in my player, it says 68 kbps and that seems much more consistent with the sound quality. It’s still listed as track 6 on Analog Heart, and in fact, if I go look on Wikipedia for the album, Porcelain is listed there as 3:53, not 3:38. Does anyone know the story here? Where did this longer version come from? Was there more than one release of the CD? Is it recorded from some kind of demo? Why is it listed as the correct length in the album information at sites like Wikipedia? We’re all dying of curiosity, so if anyone can help clear this up, we’d really appreciate it. Thanks guys. |
