When David Cook's Coronation song Time Of My Life was heard for the first time, it assured David Cook a bestselling and chart topping single. His other song was Dream Big. We've heard that Dream Big was allegedly intended for Brooke White, that it was a country song by a girl.

Both Time Of My Life and Dream Big were entries in the 2008 American Idol Songwriting Competition, where thousands of new songs were submitted until it was trimmed down to 20 by the Idol creator Simon Fuller and his team. From this set, Time Of My Life was voted by more than a half a million people to be the Coronation Song. The two Davids were then given the other Top 9 semifinalists to listen to so that they can choose their respective new song for the Finals Night. David Cook chose Dream Big while David Archuleta opted for In This Moment.

Thanks to the thread original Time of My Life.

I created this topic so that it would be easier for those who are curious how the original Time Of My Life and Dream Big sounded. The 20 semifinalists are in this site with corresponding audio clips. You can listen to them.

When David Cook and David Archuleta, during the Finale, sang a duet of a Chad Kroeger original Hero, everybody was surprised about how well the two Davids' voices blended, but mostly especially with how David Cook did his amazing falsetto.... Women got weak on their knees... Hearts did little cartwheels... Fans felt goosebumps all over....

David Cook is so versatile that he even mastered the very difficult falsetto.... His transition is so fluid.... seamless.... It's like art.

Where else did we hear David Cook doing the falsetto? Why don't we list these songs and preferably provide the corresponding parts/lyrics where he did falsetto.

Example:

"HERO"

I am so high, I can hear heaven.
I am so high, I can hear heaven.
Oh but heaven, no heaven don't hear me.

And they say that a hero can save us.
I'm not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold on to the wings of the eagles.
Watch as we all fly away.

Someone told me that love would all save us.
But how can that be?
Look what love gave us.
A world full of killing, and blood-spilling, that
world never came.

And they say that a hero can save us.
I'm not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold on to the wings of the eagles.
Watch as we all fly away.

Now that the world isn't ending, it's love that I'm sending to you.
It isn't the love of a hero, that's why I fear it won't do.

And they say that a hero can save us.
I'm not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold on to the wings of the eagles.
Watch as we all fly away.

And they're watching us (Watching us)
They're watching us (watching us) as we all fly away.
And they're watching us (Watching us)
They're watching us (watching us) as we all fly away.
And they're watching us (Watching us)
They're watching us (watching us) as we all fly away.

American Idol 7 saw a great artist in David Cook who gave us many of most memorable covers and arrangements of other song originals (and covers). Mariah Carey said (or insisted smile.gif) that DC's version of "Always Be My Baby" should be included in his first post AI7 album. Lionel Richie liked his DC's "Hello" very much that there was a talk that DC would be recording this. Diane Warren was so elated when DC performed the song she wrote for Aerosmith, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing." Even Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber praised DC for his "Music of the Night." Dolly Parton was surprised and liked the first male version of "Little Sparrow." Neil Diamond gave high praises to DC. and on and on. It seems that whatever David sings becomes instant hits.

Some are wondering will these DC covers end up in his first post AI7 album? Though, there's no news yet, it seems unlikely. As people love these DC renditions so much, most of DC fans have more or less downloaded (legally or illegally) these songs. Many would even like to have a DC album full of DC covers. While some said that there's no need to buy the album with the covers since they already have them. (see related discussion Will Any Of DC's Covers On Idol Be Released, Covers On Next Album http://www.david-cook.org/Will-Any-Of-DCand39s-Covers-On-Idol-Be-Released-t4940.html.)

As a David Cook, which would you rather want to happen?

A. Some DC covers from AI7 should be included in his first post AI7 album. Which songs?

B. DC should release an album full of covers done during AI7, after his first post AI7 album.

C. DC should not release a "covers" album at all.

A lot has been said about David Cook's first solo album, "Analog Heart." What a great album it was, that DC fans tried to get his/her own copy of the AI7 winner's album. But its sudden pull out from Amazon (whether at David's request or not) where the album was available disappointed or even shocked a lot of people. With the unavailability of legal copies of the AH album, fans resorted to the illegal downloading of the AH songs whether they wanted to or not. They just want to hear these now rare songs. This has caused an ethical dilemma to many. Some resorted to donating to the American Cancer Society. (see related thread "Illegally downloading David Cook's music, An ethical dilemma" http://www.david-cook.org/index.php?showto...amp;hl=ethical). This is very noble. On the other hand, those who want to profit from this album pull out, has been selling their copies at exorbitant prices (see related thread "Idiots pull Analog Heart from Amazon" http://www.david-cook.org/Idiots-pull-Anal...azon-t6133.html.

As a David Cook fan, would you like his first solo album, "Analog Heart" re-release (after his Time of My Life album) or would you rather have this album be forever be a collector's item, and a rare gem?

As for me, I already have downloaded the AH songs and will soon be donating to the American Cancer Society, but I still would like to have a copy of the album as part of my collection.
