My husband and I went to the Declaration Tour in Morgantown at West Virginia University on March 6. We spent the day roaming around the WVU campus ... we graduated from WVU 20 years ago, and we were just reminiscing.
We got to the Mountainlair (the concert venue) early in the afternoon. A line of David Cook fans had already started forming because tickets had to be picked up at will-call and there were no assigned seats. So I chatted with some of the fans and was told there would be a sound check at 3:30. So I hung around for a while. Well, 5:00 rolled around and still no sound check. So my husband and I left the Mountainlair to go downtown and do some bar hopping and sight seeing. When we pulled out of the Mountainlair parking garage, guess who we saw walking down the street? David and the band. My husband and I just continued driving downtown. We parked the car, and when my husband got out of the car, David was right there next to us, walking down the street. We went into a pub and guess who's there? David and the band! David was just chillin out ... relaxing before the show and drinking a beer. It was so cool. My husband and I sat at the table right next to him, about two feet away. The waitress had no idea who he was until someone told her. No one bothered him for pictures, etc. (except one girl), and he just seemed like an average guy. About a half hour later, David paid the tab and left. My husband and I left about 15 minutes later and we walked around downtown for a while. Here's the good part. My husband and I walked into another bar and guess what? David and the band were there, too! It was so cool. By this time, I realized I had to do something. So I told my waiter to tell David I wanted to buy him a drink. The waiter went to David's table and told him, David looked over at me, acknowledged me, and ordered a shot of Jack Daniels. When he got the drink, he looked at me, "toasted" me with the drink, and I "toasted" David with my beer. It was so freakin' awesome. About 20 minutes later, David left. On his way out, he passed by our table and said, "Thanks for the drink." I said, "You are very welcome." My husband then said, "We wish you good luck." David said, "Thanks. I appreciate it." And that was it. I didn't see David again until the concert that night, which was fantastic. It was such a cool encounter with David that day. He is a genuinely gracious and nice person. I will never forget it. I didn't ask him to take a picture with me or for his autograph because I already have both from Ford Day. I could tell he was just hanging out and relaxing before the concert, so I left him alone and just bought him a drink. It was an awesome day, and I just had to share it with all the DC fans. :-)

While David didn't make the top of the list, he did make it onto People Magazine's "100 Sexy Men in 1 Minute" video. Go to http://www.people.com/people/package/video...0238484,00.html
In my opinion, David should be number 1. He's so freakin' sexy ... it kills me. :-)

Here's an article I found from EW about the 11-1 Saturday Night Live. Please don't necessarily read the article itself ... read the comments at the end from SNL viewers. The comments about David are fantastic. Some people didn't even know who he was and, now that they've heard his music, they are fans. A few comments are mean spirited, but most are great. It looks like David has managed to capture even more fans with his appearance on SNL.

I just got home a short while ago from Ford Day in Dearborn. What an event! It was unbelievable. It was an intimate setting, and you felt like David was singing just to you. Both the Davids were great.
David Cook was very casual and laid back. It was just him and his guitar -- who could ask for more. He sang "The World I Know," "Hello" (chosen by an audience vote) and "The Time of My Life." I was seated about 9 or 10 rows back from the center of the stage (I got lucky when the stampede of people rushed into the auditorium -- there were no assigned seats). The view -- and his performance -- were amazing. David Archuleta sang "Angels," "Crush" (the first time he had sung it live) and "Imagine." The kid can really sing. I thoroughly enjoyed it. After the program, they both stayed and signed autographs and took pictures. The crowd was huge, but they stayed long enough to get through everyone. There was some pushing and shoving, but nothing that I couldn't handle. (Most of it by the younger fans.) I met David, got him to sign my memory book from the Grand Rapids show (he didn't come out and sign that day) and I got two pictures with him. After he signed my book and I got pictures with him, I sat back down and just absorbed everything going on around me. Maybe it's weird, but I watched David. He's amazing with people. He's so nice and so genuine. And he's funny, too -- very quick with the one-liners. What a memorable day. I must say, I had "the time of my life." I will remember this day always. I just wanted to share it with all of you.

I'm headed to see David C. and David A. at "Ford Day" on 9/19. I'm going alone, and a bit uncomfortable about that. Is anyone else going and possibly willing to meet up? It would be nice to hang out with some people who are as crazy as I am about DC.
