Oh, David Cook. I wish I could just quit you.

Hopefully this is the right place to put this: it's a blog posting I wrote elsewhere, and thought would provide a few chuckles here. When I registered here, I somehow put in another handle I occasionally use, instead of Ariadne...but this is my work. Hope you enjoy...and if I've put it in the wrong spot, someone let me know and i'll move it as soon as I get back.

Word Nerd 1693 here, moping my way through YADPAI (Yet Another Day Post American Idol). After the pure exultant adrenalin high that was seeing David Cook rightly assume his crown of this year's American Idol, suddenly Tuesdave rolled around - and it wasn't Tuesdave at all, but just another day. Likewise with Results Day, also known as Wednesday. The world seemed somewhat flat and tepid in colour, rather than being the magic Skittles Rainbow we had come to know, love and lust after over the past however-many weeks we were caught up in our cougar-adoration of His Utterly Hawtness.

I mean, really. You seduced us with your sweet voice, your CFM eyes, your size 13 boots, your rock-me-gently stance at the microphone - and now we're all reduced to counting down the days til the Tour, til the Album - and resorting to watching daytime television to see your sultry sexhawtface and hear you seduce us all over again singing to us so intimately.

I knew it The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, when you fixed me with those Innocent eyes and said Hello, that All I Really Need is You. And you told me, didn't you, that it was All Right Now and we could be Happy Together. That you'd Always Be My Baby. You let me Dream Big, and become a real Tuesday and Wednes DayTripper. And when you finally utterly seduced me with your Music of the Night, you showed me how you really are Hungry Like the Wolf. You made me Shout to the Lord, cry and squee like a fangirl in your glory.

But then along came a Little Sparrow who warned me about Eleanor Rigby. And Billie Jean. And though I pleaded with you to Don't Stop the Music, it was clear to me that The World I Know was going to change. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," you told me. I threw your Guitar Hero and your tighty-whities at you and told you that I Dare You to Move. We'd been Living on a Prayer long enough, but you're still My Hero.

Oh well. I'm Alive despite the heartbreak, lost here in the Teenage Wasteland (yea, I know it's Baba O'Riley. YOU try working that into a sentence). And I still love you, DC, even though I wish I could just quit you. I read your website, and the scary boards, and the smart boards, and listen to your music, because I Don't Want to Miss a Thing. And you've broken American Idol for me like you've broken so many records, because you're one Sharp Dressed Man and a Hero to boot, and who could there possibly be after you? But I know one thing: I've had The Time of My Life with you. And I'm so, so glad that second place has never carried you home - because if you want to know the truth, you make or break my day. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
