Is it safe to camp at Tietiesbaai?
It is dangerous there and there is absolutely no security or patrolmen in the camp. We were always under the impression that with Tietiesbaai being a nature reserve, it should be safe. But alas.
Why is it called Tietiesbaai?
The reserve takes its name from the local lighthouse, which is in turn named after a British ship that was wrecked nearby in 1829. A sweetener at Sea Shack in Soldaten Bay are the decorations by acclaimed artist Theo Kleynhans.
