If you only have a single sub, you probably don’t need a miniDSP, assuming you will use the room correction in those AVRs. miniDSP comes into play if you have more than one sub (allowing time alignment / phase / etc), and or if you don’t want to use the room correction built into your AVR.
Is MiniDSP any good?
It is a quite capable box. While there is room for improvement, in particular in the output stages, the MiniDSP 4×10 HD does provide a quite reasonable level of performance given its price point. “4×10” refers to the four inputs and ten outputs.
