What is the process to return a rental car?
Drive into the designated return lane, where an attendant will guide you to park and turn off the car. Remain standing near the car while the attendant does a walk-around to check the car for damage and mileage. If you prepaid, you will get a receipt and be free to leave.
Do I need to wash car before returning to rental?
No. You don’t need to clean or wash a rental car before returning it. However, ensure that you return the car in the same condition you received from the rental company or haven’t made it too untidy. Another customer may have rented the car while you return it.
Does it matter when you return rental car?
Hourly charges for your location and rental can be found on your rental contract. If you return the vehicle 2 ½ hours or more from the time it was rented on a subsequent day, you will be charged for an additional day of rental.
Do you save money by returning a rental car early?
If you need to drop off your car earlier than expected, call the local number the rental company should have given you with the paperwork you got when you picked up the car. You will not receive a refund for the unused days, but there shouldn’t be any charges for returning the car early.
Can a different person return a rental car?
No, you cannot rent a car for someone else. The person who has reserved the rental is the one who needs to pick it up. However, you may be able to add a driver onto your rental contract. Avis requires the additional driver to sign a form before allowing them to drive the rented vehicle, and there may be added fees.

Can I return my rental car to a different location?
Yes, you can return the car in a different location. Usually, this is called “one-way rental”. However, please note that, sometimes, an extra fee may be applied to your reservation.
Can I return a rental car to a different location enterprise?
At participating Enterprise rental locations, a vehicle can be rented in one location and returned to another; however, please be advised that: Some one way rentals are assessed a one-time drop charge or mileage charge in addition to the rental rate.
How can they tell if you smoke in a rental car?
When you return the vehicle, an agent will inspect the vehicle. If an agent witnesses you or a passenger smoking, or if there is physical evidence of smoking (ashes or butts in the vehicle, cigarette burns, etc.) or the scent of tobacco, you will likely receive a bill a week or more after returning the car.
